Re: when i have 2 or more bandwidth from 2 or more 3 provide

I use PCC on several networks where we have two internet gateways. With 30 - 40 clients on each I notice that one gateway always gets about 10 times more traffic than the other. Re: NV2 Real life PTMP migration and stability

We managed to upgrade approx 10 RB133s to 4.16 with nv-2, but it took all day. First we had to lock default rates on AP and client to 18Mbps like the earlier post says, then upload only the packages we need. We foundthe CPU could just handle it. This fix doesn't work for PtMP situations. We have 4 clients in station-wds mode - only one will pass traffic when AP is switched to nv2 protocol.

The only way we have found to solve these random PPPoE disconnects is to briefly change the wireless protocol between any/unspecified/802.11 then the sessions reconnect.

As i said this only affects 2.4Ghz clients to AP with v5rcxx or v4 using the nv2 wireless package.

Re: Why do not see my wireless point-to-point link w/discover?

I had to add all wireless links manually. If Dude has detected RouterOS on the device you can select which wireless interfaces can be monitored.

To add a link click the red + and draw it between devices.

We have a lot of RB112s as client CPE, hotspot nodes etc. I can tell you upgrading to v3.3 has caused no end of problems with these boards. Its random stuff, but looks like insufficent resources mostly. :(

We are downgrading 112s to 2.9.50 - only when we can access the ethernet interface directly.

We have found a problem in MT v3 when we tried to change PPP clients on static remote addresses to obtain dynamic IPs from a pool. The system still tries to assign the old static remote address even though it has been deleted from the PPP entry.

Can anyone at MT reporduce this?

Sounds like an MTU problem - try reducing the MTU on your client to say 1420 - do a Google for DrTCP utility to do this

I have a customer running the VPN server in MS Server 2003 - we have natted him to the outside world - all ports are open etc but he says only one client can connect at a time. Are there known problems with MT 2.8.26 and concurrent VPN connections via NAT? Or is it more likely to be a licensing issu...

We were just looking at some 400mW 802.11a Atheros cards from SuperRange. According to their specs throughput decreases as output power increases. Is this always the case?

Would this also happen with 300mW Prism as opposed to lower power cards?

We just installed one of the 300mw Prism cards but Router OS reports the card as being 200mw type.

Is the actual output affected?

We just added a second gateway - ie gateway=x.x.x.x,y.y.y.y but now the guy playing poker complains he is getting frequently disconnected from his game!

Could ECMP routing be causing this? Must be frustrating if you have a good hand! :D

Guy, we use a couple of the Sangoma cards in a linux box that bonds ADSL lines and acts as our gateway. Then we use Mikrotik routers behind that. Its cheap and it works well.

Is that something you have considered?

Does anyone know whether MT p2p filtering can affect online poker games? Most involve some sort of software download.

Not being a gambling man myself, I wouldn't know!

Are the ADSL lines into the same location? If your ISP supports multilink PPP over ADSL you could bond them, I believe RouterOS 9 will support this but there are other solutions (Cisco, Linux) already available.

Would that work for PPPoE connections?

Or if I set primary DNS server from ISP 1 and secondary DNS server from ISP 2 - would I be taking a risk only having 1 DNS server per ISP?

Come to think of it we have a linux router that allows unlimited DNS nameserver entries. Can MT not do the same?

Dual gateways to different ISPs

Apologies if this has already been covered:

Our network now has two gateways to different ISPs - if I add a static route with gateway=x.x.x.x,y.y.y.y PPPoE clients will not pick up the other ISP's DNS addresses.

I couldn't find anything about this in the manual....

If there is no IP address on the LAN adaptor you will see this triangle warning unless you untick the "Notify when ...limited connectivity" on the adaptor's properties page.

Using ARP=enabled on MT and IP range for your PPPoE pool different to your hardware IP range should help.

If the two prism cards are sittting next to each other in the RB14, then they can interfere with each other even when on different channels -- the radios are rather noisy.
Now you tell us! Does disabling one of the cards remove all interference?

Has the default PPP profile used by your PPPoE server got limitations applied? If so, you will only be able to restrict throughput to below these limitations. You may need to use an unrestricted profile as default.

But what I want to see is a MikroTik equivalent - not a debate about load balancing.

If we reboot our RouterBoard (2.8.12) we find that a connected PPPoE interface randomly 'grabs' one of the local or public interfaces. The only solution is to manually disconnect this PPPoE user then delete and re-enter all affected the static routes. Anyone have an idea why this is this happening? TC

We have to remove both interfaces and re-enter the default route to get it working again.
