Dude on Virtual server

Hi, I use Dude to monitor services and network bandwidth mainly. I just moved my Dude server on to a virtual server (running on VMWare ESXi) Since I moved it all the probes i created to monitor services and disk space now don't work. I cannot even do an SNMP walk on the server however I can ping it....

Export history information for averaging data

Is there anyway to export history information to get data in the form of numbers rather than picture graphs.

It would be useful to manipulate the histroy info and get averages etc.

Any ideas?

Re: How to measure bandwidth at a router

Sorry lebowski, shoulda given more info, I did mention that I have 'I have some experience with the 'DUDE"' but I could have been more specific. My main experience to date is with monitoring servers and their services. None really with router and bandwidth probes or links. Anyway I have suss’ed...

Re: How to measure bandwidth at a router

Thanks for that...as helpful as it was to post a link for the entire manual I need some more help than the basic manual provides. I am assuming that bandwidth can be monitored by using links. What I am having trouble is working how to use the 'interface' section of the link. I am not sure how I am s...

What Ports does DUDE communicate on?

I need to provide the correct ports that the DUDE uses to communicate with other devices so I can get bandwidth data on our sub-branch internet routers.

Can any one help me?

Display Probe warnings on separate lines

Does anyone know if there is a way to get probe warnings to display on separate lines rather than separated by commas. If you get multiple failures, your network object expands out horizontally across the page.

Probe on process memory usage.

Is it possible to create a probe to monitor the amount of memory that a particular process is using - like Dude.exe for instance. I would like to monitor this process and have a service restart command run when the alert is raised for reaching a particular memory usage for the dude.exe service. As s...

Re: CPU OID data not showing

I managed to find the issue though i do not understand why it needs to be done. Instead of having the whol eOID as numbers it wanted a combination of both and now works perfectly e.g:

[oid("iso.org.dod.internet.private.enterprises.318.1.1.1.2.2.1.0")]%

Re: CPU OID data not showing

Actually i did it a slightly different way, i simple specified each different CPU oid and added them together and divided by the number of CPUs e.g: [(oid("1.3.6.1.2.1.25.3.3.1.2.7")+oid("1.3.6.1.2.1.25.3.3.1.2.8"))/2]%. This works nicely, but as i said for some reason if i have ...

CPU OID data not showing

I have an odd issue, i have set up all our servers to show CPU, HDD and RAM information by adding the appropriate OID information in the label window of the appearance properties. This is working very well, except that the 2 servers that we have that are single processor CPUs, they show the OID ie:'...

Re: Creating Probes for Windows Services

Thanks, i will give it a try. I would also liketo find out where there is detailed documentation of the commands used in these preobes eg: what does 'array_find' mean and the '>0, 1, 0)' specification at the end of the available line. Also, the information about copying the lmmib2.mib file into the ...

Creating Probes for Windows Services

Setting up Probes to monitor Disk Usage

I am trying to figure out using a probe for HDD_USAGE. I have seen a previous post regarding this and it suggested doing the following: Create a new probe: Type: function Available: if(hdd_usage()>0, 1, -1) Error: if(hdd_usage()<90, "", "Disk usage > 89%") Value: hdd_usage() Unit...

Yeah, i am kind of resigned to doing that, but is there a command that can be schedules to do it. I tried a few but no joy. It would be easier to seta scheduled task to do it once a day.

Dude.exe memory leak

I have installed dude 2.2 on my Win2K3 server. I find this program immensly useful and fun to use. I have layed out our entire network of about 140 devices in total. It works very well but i have noticed that i have a memory leak. While dude is running there are always 2 dude.exe processes in the ta...
