Hello all , I'm trying to figure out precisely how to set up my mikrotik firewall to permit zoom . I looked this up and they list a bunch of servers and thought it would take forever to add a firewall rule for every ip they list. I'm not sure how to configure a simple ruleset to pass zoom traffic ex...

Re: Why no extended 5 Ghz spectrum on dynadish

Certainly , then why are others in the US able to use these frequencies but MT won't. Seems MT is shooting themselves in the foot when the competition is able to use more of the 5 GHZ spectrum that MT is ignoring.

Why no extended 5 Ghz spectrum on dynadish

I'm puzzled as to why MT does not support or provide usage of the extended 5 GHZ channels on the dynadish radios that every other manufacturer seems to provide. Could you not provide a software upgrade to allow this shortcoming. The original dynadish models had this feature. I still have a few in my...

Ok , I pulled another netbox out of inventory and checked it's settings and found the 10 mhz band accessible . If I try on the original unit , no matter the country code , as soon as I select 10mhz from the drop down , the channel goes to auto with no other option. Seems I have a flaky unit.

Set your routerboard eth0 ip subnet/netmask/gateway thru serial terminal (hyperterminal), connect ethernet cable from pc/laptop to eth0, set pc/laptop ethernet to same subnet then winbox into routerboard to set up your wireless interface(s), firewall , etc,etc...

Re: using netinstall

The cure all is not to use vista....netinstall evidently doesn't play nice with it. Used another PC with XP ....RB532a up and running! :D :D :D

using netinstall

Hello ppl, Seems I've got a bit of a problem, I've got a 532A board that won't boot the OS, so, upon recommendation, I reformated the nand and dl'd netinstall from the support page. I've installed it on my laptop (Vista :( ) then dl'd the 3.10 (all pkgs.) file to the laptop.I assigned the ethernet I...

Re: Excelent signal, very poor ping results

I have seen similar responses and most every time it has been either a multipathing problem or is interference related. Would show me adequate signal strenght but ping replies were all over the place. A good connection should give you reasonably consistent replies to ping and no dropped packets. I w...

Re: switch kills mkrotik

Update... Grabbed a voltmeter and made some measurements on the cat5 data output of the poe injector. For some unknown reason the RX lines (pins 1&2 of the cat5) now have 48V dc. The power/data ports of the injector only supply power to pins 4&5(+) and 7&8(-), and that is only on the oth...

switch kills mkrotik

Hey all.. Very perplexing problem. Got an RB153 w/48v PS that dies when connected to my netgear switch via poe, however I can unplug from the switch and plug into my laptop and everything works fine. So I get a different switch, plug it in and the RB 153 dies, plug my laptop into the switch, communi...

sudden strange behaviour...

Hello, I run a small WISP and am using dude to monitor my subnets. Up until yesterday it was working fine and has been for several weeks, now entire subnet blocks are reporting down. The only services I'm monitoring is ICMP, basically just periodically pinging clients to acknowledge there presence o...

Re: simple wep on a 153

Use Atheros-based cards (instead of Prism) on APs if you want to provide WEP in your wireless network.

soekris/prism isn't so picky..

Re: simple wep on a 153

from the manual: Prism card doesn't report that the use of WEP is required for all data type frames, which means that some clients will not see that access point uses encryption and will not be able to connect to such AP. This is a Prism hardware problem and can not be fixed . Use Atheros-based card...

simple wep on a 153

Hello, I've purchase a 153 board and installed 3 prism cards . I have set them up as three independent ap's and successfully communicated with all three (unit will power a 17dbi tri-sector antenna). Now all I want to do is implement simple wep encryption on the three interfaces but there doesn't see...
