Also got the same error today on CCR1009 after a power outage.

This is the first time I will see netinstall not working.
The device tried booting from ethernet but could not connect to Netinstall.

If you do your authenticating from User Manager for both Hostpot and PPPoE then you should be able to get your traffic stats from that ?
userman only gives traffic statistics not connection tracking.

You can make (leased DHCP Addresses) Static, to prevent automatic ip change.
This will encourage MAC spoofing and once users are aware that MAC spoofing works on our network, the outcome will not be good.

Depends - do you need the Internet to establish connections to the machines? Connections established by 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.2.1 will be just fine, you only need destination NAT if you need inbound connections to work. Well, I guess you are talking about how to idenitfy newly generated batch users, if so, use a unique username prefix to identify the batch

Set the "start at" from console

PPP and Userman on the same machine should not give problem
Just do the following
Be sure to add radius address=127.0.0.1 secret=123456 service=ppp
and
in userman add router address=127.0.0.1 secret=123456

And setup ppp aaa to user radius
thats all.

Upgrade to UM 4. It strictly enforces single user only. Watch out for bugs though!
Thanks, I currently have v4.2 level4 installed but it does give me some orrors which I have always overlooked

I only removed the rate limit from usermanager leaving the one in the user profile

User manager cannot even tie mac address to username & I dont think the rate liniting in it is actually working fine. the rate limiting has not been yeilding result.
