Re: NetBIOS and PPTP

I did that and I can ping machines using LAN ip addresses, but udp broadcast is not relayed from LAN to VPN user and vice versa. There was a tool bcrelay (with PoPToP open source pptp server) which was doing exactly that (udp broadcast relaying from one network segment to another) and this functiona...

Re: Udp Broadcast over VPN mikrotik

I'm just referencing another (open source?) project to show that this is possible and shouldn't be a big deal to implement, especially on a device as fantastic as mikrotik :)

Feature suggestion: UDP broadcast over PPTP

This is accomplished already and explained here: http://non-standard.net/freebsd/game-vpn/vpnfaq.html
So, the idea can just be reused on RouterOS too. It's just the matter of will to implement it or not.

Re: Udp Broadcast over VPN mikrotik

This can be solved easily if wanted. This page explains the PoPToP pptp server and how they use it for playing multiplayer games over VPN: http://non-standard.net/freebsd/game-vpn/vpnfaq.html

I guess it's just a matter of will to implement or not that same behavior.

Re: NetBIOS and PPTP

Hi, thanks for your reply. By default PPTP sends IP traffic only, that denies proper Netbios operation. As far as I know UDP is IP too, so Mikrotik should send both TCP/UDP without any restrictions. If I can understand correctly, the problem with UDP broadcast is because of different segments, which...

NetBIOS and PPTP

Hi all, I've managed to setup a PPTP Server on MTik, to allow employees from a company to access their network from outside (their homes) through a VPN connection. Everything works, except, of course, UDP broadcast, which is needed for NetBIOS names resolution (and thus, browsing the Microsoft Netwo...

Send copies of (UDP) datagrams to multiple receivers

Hi, It would be awesome if Mikrotik could add a support for this feature in its OS: http://code.google.com/p/samplicator/ That would help in cases where monitoring/backup is needed using remote machine(s). "This simple program listens for UDP datagrams on a network port, and sends copies of the...

IP - Firewall - Address List bug (v.2.9.7)

when I put the items in the address list like: 192.168.0.0/16 192.168.1.5 192.168.2.3 192.168.52.21 the matching doesnt work well.. I know the problem may be those 3 duplicate ips (which already match the first pattern, so they shouldnt even be there), but, if this situation is present, the matching...

Re: WAN+LAN through same LINK

you could use mangle to mark incoming packets with a mark and add a route saying where to send packets marked with such mark consider the following image: Drawing2.gif on the left RB you should: -mark all packets coming from IN1 interface with mark X -add a route that forwards packets marked with ma...

Re: RouterOS and Shoutcast Server

yes I see, sorry, I haven't payed attention to it the first time.. this example forwards all ports from the public ip of 78.134.1.1 to a private ip of 192.168.2.250: chain=srcnat src-address=192.168.2.250 action=src-nat to-addresses=78.134.1.1 to-ports=0-65535 chain=dstnat dst-address=78.134.1.1 act...

Re: Several links over ONE pair of antennas

Just to remind, "The goal is to connect 2 geographical points with a link that has a good scalability, meaning, we can add bandwidth easily, when needed". So, znet, if I understood your post correctly, you proposed a way of just combining several links through one way, but this way you don...

Re: RouterOS and Shoutcast Server

you also need port 8001 for SC to work properly further more, if you assign some custom port N for SC server, you need to open both ports N and N+1, because of the way SC works refer to: http://www.shoutcast.com/support # D3. I'm behind a firewall/proxy. Can I still use the DNAS to broadcast? # Answ...

Re: Several links over ONE pair of antennas

Sometime it's just not possible to mount several antennas at one geographic point (for ex. when renting antenna tower's space), because you don't have space for new antennas or you are just not allowed to put several antennas, etc. I believe that 802.11n standard has approached to this idea and I'm ...

Hi all, I'm researching on this topic for some time now and I'm interested to see what you guys think about this topic and during time, I hope, this could be a good tutorial for all the others who stumble upon this problem. If you dont have any experience, you can also contribute by posting some rel...

Re: CALEA and Remote Log Server

so, all I need to do is start Ethereal (Wireshark), set filters to capture 'udp only'? And of course to set the analyzer to interpret those udp packets as TZSP packets, to get it all right, is that correct? (I had got a feeling that some kind of listening server should be started, or something, but ...

Re: CALEA and Remote Log Server

Hi everybody, In the documentation version 1.5 which applies to v2.9 of RouterOS, at this link: http://www.mikrotik.com/testdocs/ros/2.9/tools/sniffer.php there is a part regarding packet sniffer settings, which says: Not only Ethernal (http://www.ethereal.com) and Packetyzer (http://www.packetyzer....
