Re: CCR2004 : BGP Benchmarks

Good idea about using a 1036, however in my environment that isn't possible. I need to keep some of the IP's private to pass through a traffic shaper before it gets to the nat 1072. Issue is we need more than 2x SFP+ ports that a 1036 would have. How about Mikrotik just fixes the damn connection tra...

Re: CCR2004 : BGP Benchmarks

Some of us need to use nat for particulars so we need to keep connection tracking on. Even with a light amount of connection tracking it crashes weekly on our 1072's. Some of our 1072's with it disabled still randomly watchdog reboot. It all started a few versions back.

What about those of us who NEED to leave conntrack on? I need to do some nat at this router so some of the devices behind it can get updates and they can't be natted further up or down. What realistically can you do before you notice issues? I have issues with the 1072's where they randomly reboot and the watchdog triggers. Maybe 1 time a week or less. No pattern to it and the supout shows nothing.

You need to use L7 stuff. But it changes so its difficult to track down the specific signatures. There are plenty of boxes out there that can ID the traffic with a multitude of definitions that if they match enough of them it'll be considered netflix and then you just decide what to do with it (ie d...

That depends on the link - if you have a cable modem at one site and an ADSL link at the other the WAN link MTU and MSS would be different.
Isn't there mtu discovery that takes place? If we are large at 1500 and their end is lower wont the negotiation on size take place?

Where we are located there are hardware stores or computer shops within a 15 min drive everywhere. So I guess people use what they can. I can't blame them. Bu...

Simple Queue's Help

I have 2 customers on the same network who wish to take a ride on our wireless backbone, but I want to limit the talk between these 2 peers. To get to each other they will need to pass through a MT wireless bridge. I was told we could use queues to limit their connection to say 3Mbit. Both of them w...

Re: Newbie - Limiting Connections

I'm wondering - we set up a wireless bridge that does about 20mb. We have 2 customers on the ends of these 2 bridges so to speak on AP's in 2 different locations. The MT Bridge I am going to use a queue even though the bridge is 10.x.x.x network, lets just say both customers on either side of the br...

Re: Newbie - Limiting Connections

I've been able to play with winbox on one of these routers with 5 ethernet ports. I haven't had the chance to test this yet though. It will be coming soon however. Thanks for the help. From what I can see from "queues" this is exactly what I was looking for, thanks.

Re: Newbie - Limiting Connections

where in diagram you have mikrotik router, if they sit at customer A and B then you should limit at each customer the speed it gets, so no excess traffic is flowing over your links that will be eventually limited somewhere in the middle. to do that you can use simple queues without mangle, so just ...

Re: Newbie - Limiting Connections

Just an FYI - we took over a failing company and had to tie into their network because they had no more internet service for over a month. So we had to bridge all 3 locations in this way to get them up as cheap as we could. I know there are a lot of locations for one router, but the router we had av...

Re: Newbie - Limiting Connections

Hmmm you mean run mangle on the iptables rules on the main router on our eth1 device which is the "lan".

hypothetically if they are trying to contact someone inside the same subnet would the router really do anything with it?

Re: Newbie - Limiting Connections

Sorry the diagram didn't pan out with ascii very well. There will be no authentication. We don't use mikrotik wirelessly in our network yet, but we want to use just a router (no wireless) to limit someone's existing connection. We'll be using trango or motorola on both customers at 2 different locat...

Re: Newbie - Limiting Connections

Exactly. Local traffic inside the network I want to limit across our bridges. But both of their internet connections will be limited by the main router before they exit the network. But traffic between the two offices we want to limit to a specific amount. 10.0.1.100 10.0.1.101 Customer A Customer B...

Newbie - Limiting Connections

We just started experimenting with MT and so far we love it. We are a wisp, and we will have 2 customers that are in the same subnet under our main router. They are in different locations on different AP's but they want to set up a VPN tunnel. But each location will want to continue to use the inter...

Re: Walkthrough on Trango Atlas AP > SU Data?

Thanks for the tip. That is pretty painful and if you make any changes it'll be a pain in the butt to add people and subtract and change people all the time..

Sigh..

Walkthrough on Trango Atlas AP > SU Data?

Can someone walk me through the steps to take to get this properly? Basically this is how it works. Our Trango AP holds all the information for our Subsriber Units. (Rssi, rf traffic, eth traffic etc). I can SNMP walk the AP no problem and it pulls exactly the data I need and even converts the numbe...
