Ooh, I like that. ICMP packet sizes are also pretty obscure to someone sniffing the wire. You could use a variation on port knocking but using icmp and various packet sizes.
Then the client can use the ping command with size set to execute the knock
Hope that helps

Ok, I may have over-emphasised the "never" bit. I can give it internet during the setup and configuration, but once it goes live it's offline. There is no point purchasing a licence as you will never be able to activate it without internet access.
You might as well use the free one.

It currently has 2 x 12v 9Ah batteries. I'm doing a drain test and it's been running for 13 hours now with 2 x SXT, RB260GSP and a RB912 (as pictured). Batteries at 22.9v so still some way to go yet.Nice solution and pretty much battery run time. Congratulations. Will it have some casing?
+1. Really need a gig POE out device. The only thing that could make it better is 802.3af/at POE out to run phones and AP's from.
Cool. That works. Never thought of doing it that wayThis should work:Code: Select all/ip address add address=20.1.1.1/32 interface=ether1 network=40.2.2.254 /ip route add gateway=40.2.2.254
