attention professional WISPS. What lies in our future?

We currently have about 500 subscribers using Mikrotik gear, and I sometimes wonder how our business will continue to compete with speeds of DSL constantly improving. In our town, your can get an 15Mbit connection for less than $40/mo. For the same price, we offer only 1.5Mbit, plus we have substant...

alright, set the rates to 24/36 only. I never messed with these, because everyone always shouts "Leave at default!" I was usually at 54 with an occasional drop to 48. For the most part it seemed consistant. But I have to say, ping times are better, stability has improved (still not perfect...

Re: is evry dual nstream point to point link is full duplex?

dual nstreme is a performer, But it is not without it's faults. The concept, and implementation is fairly simply. However, my nstreme2 setup has problems, and I have been working with support to try and figure it out. First off, nothing in the price range of a dual nstreme setup compares. I have a p...

Re: this pic show's what happens after 3.0 upgrade

I have noticed the 100% CPU utilization on RB133c clients. If you load only the packages that you need the utilization seems to get better. The routerboards will get sluggish and stop responding to commands. A reboot will take care of the problem for a while. Does anyone else find this ridiculous? ...

we noticed that we could barely log in remotely using winbox. took up to a minute to login. Once in, screens were very slow to update. Opening New Terminal took about 10 seconds as well. Re: Tuning the 35MB FD nstreme2 RB333 backhaul

this link has been running surprisingly smooth. While I was hoping for a better TCP FD bandwidth, I am finding that since bandwidth consumption is about 70% down and 30% up, that the RB333s are doing just fine in the DS3 backhaul role. I have been graphing the CPU, and we average around 30%. So I am...

If you are not running anything too complex on the APs, I would say upgrade the APs to 3.3. We noticed good results. However, we have seen the bridges on a few 2.9 ->3.x upgrades go a little wierd, and had to be recreated. We also think 3.x on 175Mhz procs (112/133C) doesn't seem to hold well. But o...

Hi, Here are some suggestions: First off, upgrade your AP to 3.3, then upgrade all your clients to the same version. We have found best results with clients on 175Mhz procs to run on 2.9.50, with APs (266Mhz or better) on 3.3. After the update, do a NEW TERMINAL on each client, then do a sys rout up...

Heya Expunge! So, in reading this post, I have to concur with a few things. First, 5.8 is the way to go if you have LOS. We too have a saturated field in 2.4, so we just don't mess with it for backhauls. We use 5.6-5.8 for long hauls, and 5.1-5.3 for short hauls. Second. I personally love amps. I fi...
