@cbrown. Thanks! seems to works perfect now. I don't know if the dynamic setup was the reason for the "holes" but after having set both AP's to AP Brigde and setting up the static WDS, then everything seems to work super.

Problem Solved - winbox mac connect time out

Problem Solved.

I had been usin a VPN PRO service from "hidemyass" and the "#¤%¤#!&!! software installed a virtual net adapter called TAP-Win32 Adapter V9 after I removed this, The problem was solved and winbox works perfectly again - and the VPN also works.

PC is connected by cable and I think I have tried all possible combinations and the are all showing the same slow discovery and all times out when trying to connect via mac. The OS's boot independently.

I think it may be because that your DHCP server is still just handing out IPs to the ether2. You have to put in the Bridge.

check ip/dhcp server and clik on the DHCP server listed and check the interface set. Must be the bridge, I think.

The two cable modem - is these for ADSL connection to the internet. Do you have two wan connections?

Looking at the past it seems that your NAT is disabled. you will need a src-nat or masquerade to acces the internet through the router.

I did a similar AP using the RB411. I just set up a DHCP client for Ether1, created a brigde and added ether1 and Wlan1 to the bridge. The brigde will forward the DHCP request.

FTP worked without any problems using the browser. It really seems only tp be the HTTP traffic. Please don't give up on me. I really have no idea any longer where this problem is rooted.

If not already done - then you need to set up your firewall so that all connection initiated from the WAN side is dropped. Otherwise your users on your lan is not protected from attacks from the outside.

I am now connected throught the RB411U :-) works like a charm now. Seems that the problem was the sim pin lock. That apparently made the moden not repsond. Once disabled everthing everything started working.

In winbox I do not get any "seetings" tab when cliking on the bridge menu. I just get the following.

Bridge nat or firewall nat ?

if the output ports (lan interfaces) are bridged shall I then do the port forwarding in firewall nat or in bridge nat?

I agree with Hiltin. It must be like that. I suggest to backup your current configuration and reset the router and start all over. My experience is that it is really easy to make mistakes using the winbox to set up router. If don't know why, but it just seems that it is not so "beginner proof&q...

Good point. I am not sure. But it needs to be there. Try not to add the line and use winbox to check if the router had received an IP and a gateway - and not to forget - check also that the router have received a DNS It could in fact be the the router does have connection to tthe internet, but can't...
