You should restore backups just to the same router. If you want to copy configuration to another router, you should do compact export on the first one and then import this to another.

Yes, it would be nice to have port lists and also address groups, let's say you have address lists list1 and list2, then it would be nice to have feature like dst-address-list=list1&list2 (logical AND) or list1|list2 (logical OR).

You have to run just one DHCP, probably on RB493, then make DHCP relay on RB411 or bridge lan and wifi on both machines. So, on RB493 bridge ap and ether connected to RB411 and on RB411 bridge ap and ether connected to RB493. On RB493 use another ether to connect to Internet.

If you have 1000 clients (not just 1000 connections), then go for x86 as syadnom suggested. Some quad i5 would do nice job, just be sure that your motherboard's chipset is supported.

boretto, do you think ventilation could help? Maybe to make some hole at the top and leave one hole at the bottom to get natural ventilation. If that is not enough, maybe to add some fan. Maybe there are examples of RB800 which can withstand high temperature better, but there are obviously some whic...

Yes, there are still clock issues with some PC's.

My Core2Duo machine is running fine with 3.30 wireless-test and 4.2 wireless, but some older Compaq PIII 730MHz has 10 times faster clock (counts 10 seconds instead of one). I contacted support again.

If it is over vegetation, than 5GHz, but if it is through the vegetation, then 900MHz. Basically, with higher frequency it is likely you will get higher throughput, but you need absolute clearance, no obstacles. With ostacles, lower frequencies will do better.

same MB ...

use netinstall, work for me
This make me hard to believe, are you sure? The problem is MT can't see IDE disk at all, I don't see any difference if you boot from network or CD.

Re: Failed 3.4 to 3.5 upgrade

Does that problem is dependent on some certain hardware? If so we can take flash out, put in a device with no such hardware, boot it, and downgrade/upgrade to 3.6 when it is available.
It seems so. I will try to put it in another old Compaq machine and try.

Disabling HT in BIOS works!
I didn't have this problem after upgrading from 3.3 to 3.4, but I have problem upgrading from 3.4 to 3.5. I think I've tried disabling HT, but it didn't work. And my CPU doesn't have HT at all.

I upgraded 4 machines, 1 routerboard 333 and 3 PC's from 3.4 to 3.5. Everything is fine on the RB and 2 PC's, but I had the same "Loading E" problem on the main router. I had to remove IDE flash and put hard disk with another installation and reconfigure everything from the backup. About 1...

Does it work on Mikrotik 3.4? Marvell Yukon 88E8050 Marvell Yukon 88E8052 Marvell Yukon 88E8035 It probably has one of these chipsets, but I am not sure which one. I looked at Mikrotik hardware compatibility list, but I can't see these chipsets, so I suppose it doesn't work. Can someone confirm this...

I asked them, but they answered "if you could connect with previous Mikrotik version and now you can't, then this is Mikrotik's problem" :) They might make new firmware, they finally said, but I am not sure about this. Anyhow, we have just 3 pieces of this in the whole network, so it wasn'...

I mention that the traffic is not so heavy (about 3,8 Mbps on each radio) Do you use b or g modulation? This is actually high traffic for 802.11b. Look at wireless/registration table and check CCQ for each client, then figure out which clients have low CCQ and try to fix their equipment to get bett...

Yes, as legal users of your software we also have right to have our own country settings. Please include Serbia in your next 2.9 and 3.0 releases, you have lot of users here. These days Serbian RATEL (Republic Agency for Telecommunications) became full member of ETSI , so there is no reason not to i...

It looked broken, so I put more tx-power and it worked. If it burns out, I will just throw it away, I already don't count on it.

Re: RC11 very bad wireless

All my cards are at default tx-power value except one CM9 which is at card-rates 30 and is used for link. It seems to be true that this happends at high-power cards, I had problems mainly at three points, one XR5, one XR2, but one CM9 also. I downgraded all routers to 2.9.50.

Re: RC11 very bad wireless

We noticed a problem in wireless communication on our main 5GHz AP few days ago, but we were not sure if it was because of the upgrade from 2.9 to 3.0RC11 or weather conditions (fog and some snow). 0 X ;;; place hotspot rules here
chain=unused-hs-chain action=passthrough

Is this normal that this "/ip firewall filter" rule appears each time I restart my hotspot even if I delete it? I didn't notice this with 2.9.x.

This is close distance, so any card should work. I just wouldn't use these MSI cards, I don't have good experience from Asus WiFi cards, so I don't recommend card from motherboard manufacturers, just stick to network equipment manufacturers. I have good experience with TP-Link cards.
