In recent RouterOS versions, we have changed the formula of calculation, and it's more precise (in v4.11 exactly), as each device has it's own components, in the mentioned version we now use different calculation system for each routerboard model specifically. you will see improvement from say v4.9...

I will find out the actual precision of this and will post back here. Precision is not a word I would use in this thread :P I think its pretty clear from the posts here that RB's often dont report anywhere near the correct voltage (No 1-2v out is not acceptable) Here's an easy way out for MT, in 4....

I mean take any decent motherboard and multimeter and compare BIOS rail voltages to the readings, They are +/- 0.05 volts almost always We have 2 RB433AH's powered off the same battery showing 0.8 difference between the 2 boards and even at best thats 1v different fro...

Well I was going to say contact they and try and get a binary driver for it since a few MT users seems to have license's for Wimax bands but there saw its needs a RTOS, not confirmed tho. It'd be a nice extra feather in the MT hat to have but i'd almost say skip Wimax and release a licensed band car...

In some case's, If it worked as well as its meant to you wouldn't see loss on a link unless you hit the l2 retransmission limit you would just see high jitter and latency spikes.

That fact that you do see packet loss on a link shows that l2 retransmission doesn't always work

People can barely get 200mbit on PtP links let alone PtMP setups. Right now 2x2 CPE's wouldn't do much but add alot of price, 2x2 19dbi Antenna/Enclosures are twice the price of a 1x1 22dbi Antenna/Enclosure

You dont need hole punching unless the application your attempting to use sends the IP contact info within the packet i.e SIP/RTP/FTP etc
I think you're confusing Hole Punching with ALG (Application Layer Gateway) kernel modules.

retransmissions are done by wireless hardware, so i don't think it's a problem of UDP.. I've some packet loss on my backhaul, but the voice quality is excellent (like PSTN) If the wireless retransmit's, We dont have packetloss on our main links, If you get packetloss on a PTP link your doing it wrong

Any loss is detectable in the audio quality, Not so much running G711 but thats a bandwidth hog and G729 will show up even small packetloss in the call, Jitter buffers help slightly but RTP uses UDP and thus has no voice retransmission

Dual stacking only works when you have v4 space to dual stack with, If you dual stack with private v4 space you run into double nat issues, NAT64 is a way around this for some but not all applications

Is there a working implementation of this on Linux or *BSD that we can play with?
Is there an RFC?
Or is this just a Cisco Proprietory thing?

Its an spec, Cisco in CGv6, MS is UAG Direct Access and linux is Ecdysis.

Linux is a PoC code, Only one DNS request at a time etc

IPv6 (i forget where i read this) has enough to give 1500 addresses to each square foot of the surface of the earth.

Not to ask a blatently stupid question, but given that the current HotSpot code runs IPv4, why would you *need* it to support IPv6 (on the client-facing side) in your own lifetime ? Can confirm on PtP links with MT on both sides running new gear we sometimes see EDL's even when link SNR is 30+ and CCQ's 100%. Have put it down to thermal ducting for now since its mainly Hill to Hill over valley links that seem to do it. But would interested to hear what MT have to say about this

Opening ROS just wont ever happen GPL or not. I dont think its needed either for this purpose, All MT needs to do is roadmap v6 in ROS and put some dev time on it. This is one of those things that when your clients are demanding it its too late to start on it

Dual stake only works when you have v4 and v6 to hand out, mt should be preparing for a no v4 world. In the ethernet port settings you can set a master port (Ethernet To Ethernet only) which turns it into a switch basiclly from what I understand. Ethernet to Wireless is a bit more complicated and network specific

I've seen this problem with Bridging Wireless to Ethernet, we hit a 30-40mbit hard limit no matter what we did. To resolve it we use slave ports where for Ethernet bridging and MPLS/VPLS for wifi/eth bridging. Given MT's pushing of MPLS for wireless links I'd say bridging is giving them some issues

Port To Port assumes the MT is acting in switch mode in which case get a nice switch :) Its its routing etc then switching speed and latency is affected by CPU use. RouterOS has enough IPv6 features to slowly deploy IPv6 network. PPP IPv6 support is already added, stateless auto-configuration is added (can be used until statefull configuration is implemented). Your right PPP IPv6 is back in ROS 5 beta which was taken out due to security reasons from 3.18 IIRC....

Bit odd to be expecting tho channel widths but since someone raised it it would be nice to have support for those, Alot of licensed band's are 14mhz/28mhz wide and if we can use MT+R5hn+Freq Shifter to use licensed bands it opens up alot more bands for use. Is anyone out there running PPPoE and Radius found a way to get data counters for the 24 hour period without disconnecting PPPoE sessions at midnight? We need to be able to monitor for daily traffic but dont really want to drop PPPoE every day

For what its worth and counter to MT telling us we would have to net install the router again we worked it out, Using PHP we were able to send the CR as part of the password and managed to get into it!

I'm also very interested in this, We are using BGP based VPLS and by the looks of it for now we will have to create a full mesh system of TE tunnels.

With your question I'm now sure how you'd split it off, perhaps adding a from-address into the TE tunnel should be able to get around it?

I've got a regex for layer7 for all windows download from the main site but the windows BITS service seems to be a problem, has anyone gotten around to finding a working regex for BITS?

Does packet sniffer trip QOS/DSCP Values?

Hey All, I'm working on tracking down a QOS tag issue i'm having and i'm using a MT router in the middle, I'm using packet sniffer with streaming to my laptop where I use wireshark to capture it. I'm seeing the packets arrive just fine but am seeing a 0x00 value for DSCP, now the issue i'm tracking ...

Can we use the API in some way to use 3rd party systems like paymentexpress.com? or even our own system? Usermanager could redirect to defined site with the varibles excluding credit card info via http post and then our site could take the credit card info and if approved redirect back to usermanage...

Queues with Bridges

Hey, I have a MT 3.6 box installed on our main internet line, i have 2 NIC's in it which are bridged and it works fine, trafic flows in 1 NIC and out the other without any problems. If I put torch on the interfaces I can see all the traffic flowing thru the NIC's but if i try and make a Simple Queue...
