Bandwidth test MTU limit 1968!?!

Hi Folks, I think there is a packet size limit in the bandwidth test of 1968 bytes. I have set up two RB600A routers. I configured the L2MTU and MTU on eth1 on each to 9100 and 9000 respectively. When running bandwidth test between them, I cannot get packets larger than 1968 bytes transmitting from ...

Re: 802.1q vlan Q in Q, MTU & Eoip

QinQ is working ok, and with 3.15 we are able to set the MTU on our card 00:19:5B:FE:83:XX to be 1514. In this case we bridge the inner vlan to an EoIP tunnel for transport across our network. I have not tried to bridge a VLAN with multiple inner VLANs to an EoIP tunnel though.

It's related to hardware design, can't be fixed. It's an old chipset, you will be better off using something newer. Just about the only thing I'd want a 5211 for is extended frequency support. I'll bet it's related to the wireless module, and not software. We've had a number of R52H cards and NMP-8602 cards that have flaked out on us and have exhibited similar behaviour. The station trying (and failing) to join may not be transmitting a clean, strong signal.

38GHz hardware?

Well, then again, certain setups have different pricing. I can get DS3 links in 38ghz for $500/year and like $2k equipment. If I only need a DS-3, that's worth it. The higher speed links are much more expensive. Where can you get a licensed link for 2K $ ?!!! Please contact me off-list at reditela@...

We do support 5212 and 5213. XR will be supported in the future.

John
Is it the future yet? I haven't seen anything in changelog regarding XR.

Cheers...

What does PMTUD stand for? And do you think just setting the MTU to 1400 would fix the problem? Path MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) Discovery. Read the notes here: http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/105/38.shtml From the document: "Sometimes, over some IP paths, a TCP/IP node may send small amo...

VIA EPIA BIOS

Hi Jon, Thanks - that's encouraging, though I'm not sure what to try next other than getting different boards in to test. What BIOS do you have? Many thanks Stephen Hi Stephen, unfortunately I can't get the BIOS info from any of the machines w/out taking them out of service! Machines are on buildin...

TCP MSS

Looks like you've caused a PMTUD "black hole". A quick fix is setting a firewall mangle rule to rewrite TCP SYN packet MSS. In your case I would try setting MSS=1400 and working your way up from there until it breaks. A longer term fix is to make sure your client PCs always know how big th...

Re: Dynamic OIDs??

How does MT come up with the OID string for a wireless client? I'm graphing signal strength with MRTG, and so far, so good. But ... Were those OIDs created on the fly? If the box reboots, will the OIDs get changed? What event would cuase the OID to change? TIM It is safe to say that upgrading from ...

Req: MTU >1500 on Ether cards

Hi there. I second the request for MTU >1500 on Ethernet cards. Having done a little research, I've seen that Intel have released Linux driver support: http://www.intel.com/support/network/adapter/onlineguide/PRO1000/DOCS/LINUX/e1000.htm I wonder though, does Mikrotik not use loadable modules? Is th...

Re: Supported Cards with MTU >1500

Here is a link to hardware that currently supports MTU >1500. http://www.uoregon.edu/~joe/jumbo-clean-gear.html Now my question is, does Mikrotik support any of the cards listed at >1500 MTU? hello It is indeed possible for Ethernet to have MTU > 1500. Re: Supported Cards with MTU >1500

wireless cards? other network-cards? with standard ethernet, afaik it's not possible to have MTU > 1500, same with PPP-derived protocols. It is indeed possible for Ethernet to have MTU > 1500. Supported Cards with MTU >1500

Hi there. Urgently requesting confirmation of any Mikrotik-supported ether cards with MTU greater than 1500. In particular 1520 or 1540 would be fantastic. Intent is keeping real MTU at 1500 all the way to the client, even when IPIP or PPTP tunnels are employed. Atheros interface supports 1600, whic...

Atheros AR5004X support

When will Atheros XR be supported by the Mikrotik drivers? I understand the new cards I have been using (DLink DWL-AG530) have receive sensitivity down to -104, but my connections drop when signal goes below -88. This is a big issue due to the presence of other 5.8 GHz WLAN kit. When will the higher...
