Re: Mikrotik Bandwidth Control Problem‏

Hi, a quick solution is to have a rule at the bottom that has a limit of 0 to block the whole of the network(s) that you have. If there is a rule above it then it's first rule that applies, that way anyone without a designated allowed ip gets blocked and anyone with an allowance gets allowed. JJOliv...

Hi,

I think you need to add a DNS static route and point that back to your web server.

I had a real quick read of http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Testwiki/ ... )_services and there is a section on DNS routing.

Hope this helps.

Re: Problems RB433 UAH

If you are getting a good signal like you said, I'd consider taking the box apart and build from the beginning, start with just 1 radio and one sector. If you get a great signal from one sector only and network speed is fast then build it up slowly, one change at a time. Obviously that only helps if...

Re: rb532 oddity

I've seen this before here, thought it was the same thread . . .

http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=37006

That other thread doesn't have a solution either. Any way to merge the two together?

Re: Monitor Voltage

Yes, the MMCX connecter is better.

Omni with nfemale -> n-male to n-male -> n-female pigtail to MMCX -> MMCX connector on radio -> Winbox antenna mode -> B.

This will give you the best results. Hope that really helps.

Re: Monitor Voltage

Yes I have several very similar setups, though I do not use the UAH, just 433 with or without AH. The problem with the valemount radios is this, they have 2 connectors, MMCX and ufl. On the physical card you will see that printed on the board by the MMCX is the word 'main' and by the ufl 'aux'. This...

Re: Monitor Voltage

I use that Valemount radio as well. I'm assuming here that the radio is plugged in via the MMCX cable (the big one). For some reason the ports are mislabeled. In winbox try switching (under the wireless page on the radio) the antenna mode to antenna b.

Re: Monitor Voltage

If your board is fully functional, why change the power supply? The RB433's in my experience should be run at a higher voltage, this is because what you really need is watts into the device, as watts are a factor of volts multiplied by amps, a 12v 1a power supply is half the power of a 24v 1a power ...

I really enjoy the series of books 'for dummies'. That may say more about me than it does the books but they are really easy to understand, I haven't read it but they do one on firewalls, if you are after learning from the beginning then moving on. http://www.dummies.com/store/product/Firewalls-For-...

Re: Help mangling local networks to prevent queue limitations?!

Anyone any thoughts?

I'm flying off site to a different continent within a week and would like to train the local team how to use the RB450G's, but I can't do that until it's all fixed.

Thanks for any help?

Re: RB 433UAH - MicroSD

Hi. I'm looking at doing a similar thing for my RB450G. There are two things to note. The manual says that the RB433UAH has a microSD slot. . . http://www.routerboard.com/pdf/rb433UAH.pdf That means that a microSDHC card will not work. The HC for SD cards stands for High Capacity and needs to have s...

Hi, I have a couple of RB450G's that I'm playing with.

I'm normally running at very low CPU % but still the devices do get very hot.

Check it out from system -> health

of from console system health print.

Hi, Winbox is only ported to windoze ATM. There are threads asking it be ported to more OS, I use OSX so I understand your problem. That it works well with wine in some distros of linux is useful though. I've used Lenny and wine to good effect for winbox. Sadly I don't have crossover for mac so I'm ...

Also I'm not seeing any activity on the J...

Missed that step. We run POE's with 2.5mm power cable from one end to the other, so we don't suffer from voltage drop, we also run POE surge protectors, and ground the boards this way, so we couldn't do it, but it may work for you eben!

Re: RB600 PoE

Well, that's a question for a solar system expert which I am not. Your solar panels have to go through a charge controller of some description, the high end ones have the ability to regulate and step up / down voltages to your battery bank, I have 74v from my solar panels which go through a MPTT Cha...

Re: RB600 PoE

eben; You have three options. 1. Get a 'charge pump' to do a voltage step up from your 12/24v system to 36/48v. I've googled quickly for you but can't find one that fits what you are after, but I'm sure they exist. 2. Run your batteries in series and have a system voltage of 48v (this is what we do)...

Re: rb493 managed switch with vlan support?

I've been trying to help out in IRC. As far as I am aware, unless the eth ports are bridged together, data won't flow between. Bridging them all together, makes the board act like a switch. In this mode packets (regardless of tags) get passed from one eth port to another, without any packet strippin...
