Re: RB-1100 Port problems, and performance problems

This sounds like standard Cisco auto-negotiation problems to me. Just lock the ports each end at 100mbit FDX and you will have no problems. This is not limited to Cisco+Mikrotik, it also happens when you try and connect many other brands of equipment to Cisco switches. I am not so sure about this h...

Re: RB-1100 Port problems, and performance problems

All 3 (11-13) trouble making ports are connected with a couple of Cisco L3 2948G switches. The only way that worked without giving me trouble was with auto negotiation off at 100/FDX. I will be submitting the supout file soon.

Re: RB-1100 Port problems, and performance problems

Something like 100-200k!!! After some more extensive tests, even the beta is not working right. All interfaces seem to open at 100/FDX with auto negotiation on however the transfer speed is really slow again no matter how many times I recycled the Cisco switches or the 1100s. THE ONLY way I got the ...

Re: RB-1100 Port problems, and performance problems

But wouldn't you expect extremely bad throughput on half duplex? Why do you need to use half duplex at all on wired Ethernet ports? Yes, I would expect slower speeds but not EXTREMELY BAD. I don't need half duplex in case I have full. However, there are still cases of people having hubs which means...

Re: RB-1100 Port problems, and performance problems

The v5.0beta5 seems to work as it should with the default settings (auto negotiation turned on at both sides). However, I still get errors and extremely slow connection problems when I turn auto negotiation off at both sides and I set duplex to half at 100Mbps. I have tested with a couple of differe...

Re: RB-1100 Port problems, and performance problems

I will setup a test router sometime next week and let you know but even if this works, I don't really feel comfortable using betas in production routers. Shouldn't the fix also apply to future v4 releases?

Re: RB-1100 Port problems, and performance problems

The workaround of this 1100 hardware glitch is to turn off auto negotiation. No more disconnects for me here after this. THIS MUST BE DONE IN ALL DEVICES CONNECTED TO PORTS 11-13 . What I wonder though is if Mikrotik acknowledges the problem and is going to replace the boards having this hardware fa...

Re: RB-1100 Port problems, and performance problems

New config here also but speed and duplex negotiation doesn't really have to do much with configuration in most cases when set to auto. This is really a hardware implementation problem and a pretty old one actually that used to happen quite a lot a few years back.

Re: RB-1100 Port problems, and performance problems

Another me too here. All 3 1100s have the exact same problems with these 3 ports. Errhhhmmmm... I REALLY HOPE I am wrong here but there maybe something more to this than just a simple software fix. It looks more like a hardware bug... I have turned off auto negotiation everywhere and the problems se...

Re: [ask] RB 1100 information when available? feature + comp

It would have been a much better idea to keep the 1000 model also in production until the higher end replacement would have been available. It should have been called 8XX or something similar to that as it is not really any better than the 1000 model and it is definitely not the top of the line core...

Re: RB 450G is hot?http://forum.mikrotik.com/search.php?sear

I think I would worry and actually worry a lot since the RB450G is suppose to work up to 45C according to this: http://routerboard.com/pricelist.php?showProduct=52 It is not very clear though if that is the ambient air temp in the box or the sensor's temp and where the sensor is located at. However,...

Mine works around 55-60C without much load. It seems this RB runs a bit to the hot side.

Yes, almost. ip firewall mangle add chain=prerouting action=change-dscp new-dscp=46 protocol=udp [src-address=1.2.3.4] [in-interface=ether1] src-port=10000-20000 passthrough=yes The above rule is for the default rtp ports in an asterisk server and the DSCP value is the default one used for SIPURA/Li...

Re: Generic DSCP based QoS with equal bandwidth distribution

You'll probably save some resources by using mangle rules to make only 8 unique packet-marks, and have 8 queues (one for each mark) rather than 64 queues. So far, there is virtually no CPU difference at all between the two setups for a home ADSL network but I suppose in a large network you are prob...

You'll probably save some resources by using mangle rules to make only 8 unique packet-marks, and have 8 queues (one for each mark) rather than 64 queues. I was afraid of that also but I have been monitoring the CPU/memory load in a 450G board and surprisingly it doesn't seem to have added as much ...

Generic DSCP based QoS with equal bandwidth distribution

Will this be an acceptable generic QoS solution, including VoIP? I am only interested in prioritizing in/out traffic without specifying bandwidth since this is hard to do, specially on busy city wireless links with a lot of wifis around or ADSL lines without any ISP speed warranty. :for x from=0 to=...

IkarusOS does a pretty good job at this. A couple of other BRs/APs work also as expected. Actually just about any BR/AP I have tested (Linksys, Cisco, D-Link) worked as expected except RouterOS. WDS is not an option here as it is not supported by other wifi devices. I am not so sure if EoIP is eithe...

Well, searching that community in the middle and finding the surface that reflects those waves and keeping it that way, is one way to go! Seriously though, N will help if signals are reflected but in your case I doubt if it will help much. Increasing gain in general (TX/RX, antennas, minimize losses...

Re: New 20km link, weird interference.

I think only a spectrum analyzer would most likely help and show the RF interference levels, if any, as I have a few doubts about the interference theory. If it were RF interference, then changing your polarization would show different SNR levels. Have you checked that? Have you tried any other card...
