Is it possible to have hybrid vlans on same switch without creating bridge? Bridge causes cpu to be used and that becomes a performance bottleneck really soon, even with 100Mbps speeds only... not to mention if you try to push 1Gbps speeds...
For me it is not an issue when we are using Mikrotik devices with stock ROS, but there are lots of us who also use Mikrotik devices to build some custom solutions. For some of them ROS is awesome, but for some we need some custom packages or routing protocols which only OpenWrt offers, and no Metaro...

You are right, chip that is missing is "Samsung 519 k9f1g08u0e scbo" and that is 128MB flash chip. @Mikrotik guys please make this info known on your Routerboard product page, this is info for some is maybe not important but for some it is crucial! http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/hh2METDb...

Hi,
just got two new SXT Lite2 devices and noticed in Winbox that it says "SXT 2nD r3" and also on the box after the serial it says "553/r2" vs "547" model that was on device I bought two weeks ago.
What are the changes between SXT2nDr2 and SXT2nDr3 ?
There are probably lots of you who use Mikrotik and Ubiquiti devices in your network. Can you please share your experience how do you manage and monitor your whole network. Do you have two systems for monitoring - one for each group of devices or just one monitoring software? Any if you switched fro...
Serial port is disabled in Mikrotik SXT Lite2 bootloader, but once OpenWrt image is running serial port is enabled and I could use it as terminal console which is awesome! There two guides helped a lot: https://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/mikrotik/common http://cirandas.net/brauliobo/blog/install-openwrt-o...
I soldered pads to TX, RX and GND pads on the SXT board and connected it via usb to serial port to my laptop, but there is nothing on serial during the boot or when I enable netboot mode.
Is access to bootloader via serial port disabled on SXT devices?
Hi, I'm interesting in running OpenWrt on Mikrotik hadrware for some tests and comparisons. Has anyone managet to get OpenWrt running on some of these Mikrotik devices: Mikrotik wAP, Mikrotik hAP AC Lite, Mikrotik hEX PoE Lite, Mikrotik mAP 2n, Mikrotik mAP lite, Mikrotik Omnitik 5HnD 5xPOE, Mikroti...
So no OLSR support yet? Then only option is to use Mikrotik hardware and install openwrt on it instead using Mikrotik OS because we have existing OLSR mesh network, so it doesn't matter if Mikrotik makes something better when it is not compatible with existing network... Please include support for O...
Static queue techniques are great on fixed bandwidth links, but are useless on wifi and other type of links that have dynamic bandwidth. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but AFAIK Mikrotik doesn't support any active queue management techniques (AQM) [1], CoDel is AQM type of QoS. Hope that clears a b...
Whow, this looks like an awesome device. Has anybody tested power consumption? I can see these babies running on small battery pack powered by solar panel
I know about PCQ and queues, but they need to know what is the maximum bandwidth. And in situation I described maximum is a variable. How does PCQ handle that? I don't see how... please correct me if I'm wrong.
If I was there I would like to ask if I was at MUM meeting in Poland: How to make wireless QoS with Mikrotik? Correct me if I'm wrong, but there can't be real QoS on any wireless network, as there is on wired networks. On wired networks you give some protocols the percentage of maximum bandwidth; ie...
Please, please, please make available video and audio recordings of MUM meetings. There a lot of us who don't have time, money, ______ (fill in your excuse) Smile But would like to see and hear what is going on there. Please, please. I wanted to go, prepared and then we started having so much work t...
you should make your wireless link stable that way you can ensure that you have correct limitations. I'm not talking point to point links, that is easy. I'm laking about lots of people connecting to one poing (point to multipoint) and everyone having different antennas, different locations, differe...

Hi, can you please help me. We have s missbehaveing adsl router in out network, which for some or other reason stops working. So we need a script which does the following: ping some external site (http://www.google.com) if 5 pings drop login via telnet to adsl router and issue "reboot" com...

how to display throughput with multiple interfaces? I tried mangle rules with filtering on input inteface and output interface; I marked in-interface as UPLOAD and out-interface as DOWNLOAD. But I download with speed of 800Kbps but if I go to mangle rules and watch statistics (via winbox) I don't se...
I want to priorizy the packets in this order: voip, dns, http, email, others and p2p I'm doing this marking the packets using mangle. Then I create some queue trees to do the priorizing of the traffic. The major problem is that if I use the global-out to do the QoS the traffic don't pass by my simp...
Hi, I don't know how to disconnect someone form AP. I operate MikroTik 2.9.6 trough Winbox and it has one card in AP-Bridge mode with only WEP protection. I can see users connected in Wireless Tabless / Registration. I added them to Access List, but when I disable them from the Access List they are ...
Which Version?,,as 2.8.28 makes default priority 8,,so only a rule for ICMP would need to be added using a value in the limit-at field and change the priority to 1. ( you must have a value in the limit-at for the priority to take effect). Version 2.9--I understand defaults at priority 1--so all oth...
Hello, how setup mangle and queues so that ping gets priority, what is the right way? I want to give priority to icmp packets that go trough and from MiktoTik router, so do I choose Prerouting or Forward chain? I guess that Input and Output chains aren't important... And is it needed to first mark t...
