Any plans to add VRF selections to ZeroTier? That would come in very handy allowing multiple ZT instances over multiple WAN connections. Right now a single ZT takes many minutes to reconnect after a WAN drops out.

It would be nice for connections with multiple WANS and OSPF

Cannot ping with packet size > 32000. Is there a problem?

With some parts of my network I can send pings with packet sizes up to 65535. Other parts of my network won't let pings over ~32000 go through. As I increase the packet size, timeouts start occurring intermittently until 35000 at which point there is %100 packet loss. The internet seems fine over th...

Re: Reset one AP and all other AP's PPPOE Disconnects on bri

I'd try enabling RSTP on the bridge, and bridging devices.. It sounds like on every reboot the main bridge is having to relearn the network and rebuild its hosts table. If this is the case traffic will probably stop for a good 30 seconds after a reboot. If you enable RSTP this will significantly de...

Reset one AP and all other AP's PPPOE Disconnects on bridge

I have a tower that is running bridge mode with a pppoe server. Every now and then I have to reboot an AP or update its FW. Sometimes when I reboot one AP, all other AP's pppoe sessions drop and then reconnect. Can anyone elaborate on why it might do this? The router is a 493G and AP's are all UBNT ...

Re: L2TP VPN to Data Cetner Failover options

OSPF is easy to deploy, fast failover and consider each complete link from the datacenter to the tower. Thanks for the reply. Is there anything special I have to do in the ospf settings? Would this be considered the "backbone"? I'd like to eventually add ospf to the rest of the network as...

L2TP VPN to Data Cetner Failover options

I finally have my vpn setup and running smoothly. I have a RB1100 at a datacenter, they have routed public ip's and everything is working great. I currently use static routes to route the /24 from the datacenter, through the VPN and up to the tower. All customers have a public IP now and everyone is...

Re: Which Routerboard for DataCenter L2TP VPN Server

Alternatively if you want more power (and the ability to run virtual machines on your mikrotik) you could look at going for an x86 based router instead of a Routerboard. We use a lot of Routerboard gear, but normally only to back-up the higher powered x86 boxes we use. These include: PowerRouters D...

If you have an RB1100 you might as well use it. More RAM, faster processor.
That's what I'm thinking too. I do have a use for it coming up that's why I was asking if I could get away with something like the 450g. I hope I can get my hands on another one when I need it!

I am getting ready to Colocate with a data center. The main purpose of this is to route the /24 of addresses from them back to my small(ish) wisp. Are you suggesting I just do static routing? Re: New years resolution - Route my network

Yes, use OSPF. How many areas you want to use depends on the physical and logical topology of your network. All areas must connect to the backbone area 0. Keep things simple initially and do not use virtual links and sham links, and remember that OSPF OS expensive to converge but cheap to keep runn...
