Wireless Security Against Wifi Hacking

A buddy of mine who is a hacker told me about WPA / WPA2 hacking recently. So I'm sorta paranoid about my network.
Sometimes my network is slower from internet connectivity and I think it's WIFI hackers trying to get into my router.
Anyway to secure against Wifi hacking?

Hum, I find visual diagrams essential for understanding systems. I'll try this out.

That post helped a lot. Purchased Cross-Over Cable, connected to port 2
Winbox connected via Mac Address, Layer 2
Tweaked the box for awhile, got DHCP working again, Layer 3

And learned a whole lot in the process.

Re: Updated to 5.20 for RB700's series lost DHCP...

For some reason, after I reset the router...

I can't connect to the WIFI, it's turned off
I can't connect to the box, I get a 169.X.X.X ip each time, all ports 1-5

I reset the router but the new routerboard software seems to not work
with this hardware.

Updated to 5.20 for RB700's series lost DHCP...

The board doesn't do DHCP at all. No 192.168.88.0/24 network either. This is for the
RB750UP

Also the wireless was disabled too. So I have a locked up box with no access currently.

Maybe I can change mac addresses and it will work?

Re: Port Forward RB750G

Wow thanks a bundle. Starting to understand how things work in this device a little better. So all I need to do know is redirect port 80 to the internal webserver on 192.168.88.249 When I add a dst-nat rule to the dstnat chain for tcp, port 80 it kills all internet traffic on the local lan though. T...

Re: Winbox can't login with IP

Sounds like a different network. If you cannot connect via IP then it's an IP conflict in the addressing or routing. Example your ip is 192.168.233.2 but the IP of the router is 172.233.212.1 Unless you have the routing setup right you ain't never talking to the router on that one. You'd need static...

Ok it works just fine at least for port forwarding. Pretty sure the PAT or NAT is pretty screwed if it is dropping that many packets...

Re: Port Forward RB750G

I think that is what I tried? On the Filter Rules for the firewall I put 2 rules before the drop

Chain: Forward
Dst address 192.168.88.250
Protocol 6 (TCP)
SRC port 55554
DSC port 55554

Int interface ether1-gateway

should action be accept or passthrough? powerful little box!

Re: No support for linux.... Windows is for losers.

Thanks for the info via sftp/ftp and all these tools work fine with wine, except the dude, which I can't get working yet on fedora 12. At least this product is good. Not bad support, user group and the features are awesome. This is like Cisco without the bs. The confusion in your wiki, leads you to ...

No support for linux.... Windows is for losers.

I can telnet into the device through linux and control everything. I want to update the bootloader / firmware and then only way I can do it, is through windows? No documentation for upgrading on linux? What a useless product if you can't even use it with linux, for that is what it is created on! WTF!
