I have an open wifi hotspot with usermanager authentication. I was wondering why there are devices with similar names, different IP addresses.
Is this a security threat?

If you are using the ethernet ports to connect to your radios, instead of onboard radio slots like the RBxxx units, then that may be difficult. It would then depend on the remote units. Considering what the router has to do, the setup was simple. /interface wireless add name=vap1 master-interface=wlan1 set vap1 ssid=coffeeshop enable vap1 Then do a wireless scan and it should show up. I have that implemented now. I use a VAP on the radio, then assign a ip/subnet and set up a hotspot on it. You could use an ssid of "hotel" on one, and "coffeeshop" on the other. Under /ip hotspot profiles, you can select the directory of your html docs. /ip hotspot profile set ...

Hi,

I was wondering if it's possible to have multiple log in page design in one server. For example, one design is for hotel guests, while another login page design for a coffee shop. This hotel has a coffee shop. Both will connect to a single server.

Any ideas?

I am not familiar how routeros works, was wondering if a certain IP that was bypassed in IP binding/ hotspot login would still follow the L7/QoS settings.

Yeah, I hope mikrotik will prioritize userman. I've been considering getting 3rd party but it always lead me back to userman. It's integrated, less chances of failure than 3rd party software running on another server.

I've been testing with v5.3 userman for few hours - seems finally production ready:
"Start at first login" in profiles is fixed, along with some other problems.

I've tried a 1 hour voucher. It did not stopped at the one hour limit.

I'm gonna try it this weekend.

I've read that the "time start on first log on" was removed. Why? I am using voucher/prepaid accounts with this option enabled.

This option is very important so time only starts when user logs in.

I've been looking for alternatives like radius manager, hotspotengine etc... but still I would love to see usermanager to work. It's integrated, less chances of failures than a separate system. I hope mikrotik prioritize userman, I am willing to pay for it.

Which version

Which ROS version has working or stable user manager?

I am using Version 5 Beta 4 but I am having problems with time validity. Generated vouchers with 1 hour access, the time is up but it does not stop.

I've noticed the time started is unknown and the time end is more than 3 hours.

Any ideas why?

Anyway, I have added some firewall rules from tutorials and it seems it has solved the problem.

Another problem came out, I could not access user manager via web interface.

Any ideas what to check with my firewall rules?

WAN interface is very busy?

Hi All,

I was wondering why is my WAN interface has lots of activity, even though no one is using my LAN. It slows down my network. TORCH displayed several ip addresses sending/receiving data.

What should I do to stop this? Is this malware/botnet activity?

confirmed , I got full speed using my laptop. With mikrotik my speed drops less than 200kbps. I've tried sys reset and reloaded my backup config to no avail. Any ideas? you can connect the internet connection directly to you PC and test speed. if we can get full speed 2Mbps, the router/configuration has problem otherwise the internet speed is not enough. yeah, but I am several miles away. I 'm gonna be at the site tomorrow. Right now, i could only access via winbox.

I tried both. Both works, but preferred it on a separate NIC to have a different subnet (wireless users).

Now, I want to use usermanager but I could not get a configuration guide for version 5.0beta. Anyone could point/give me a link on howto for this version?
