Re: CPU core protect during DDoS to do blackhole

What sort of DDoS are you experiencing? I have never had trouble logging in to the main router to block an IP. Actually we typically log in and drop a BGP route for a minute or two.
I've Tried this with 100mbps and 1gbps of small packets to a single IP address.

Re: RB750UP - Issue

Oddly enough I ran into these issues with my RB750UP yesterday when I upgraded the PoE firmware. If I try to enable PoE on ether5 it basically does PWM to the power outputs. Check out my massive power draw, its two solid state relays. admin@PoE Switch] > int eth poe monitor [find] name: ether2-maste...

Bypass Ports on Axiomtek NA-820: PowerRouter 732 etc

Is anyone getting use out of the bypass port function on the NA-820 board? I was reading the manual and saw that theres jumpers with these choices Disabled (Default) Enabled GPIO/Watchdog/Power We've had occasional issues with the compact flash cards, I've convinced the people I work with to try an ...

Re: RB 750 As a switch

It WILL go through the firewall if you put the ports into BRIDGE, and then check the box for the bridge to use IP FIREWALL. Do you have any sample about this? In winbox, look at bridge, and on the first tab labeled bridge hit the settings button. Are you sticking APs on the end of each of the ports...

What kinds of laptops? also how is the RB1100 powered? I've got one RB1100 thats powered via PoE and it doesn't go stupid when I plug a laptop into it. But its a Panasonic Toughbook

What happens if you hook it up through a separate PoE thats not powered up?

Can anyone give me some advice on what I am doing wrong? Do I need to load a driver? Other? Software version 3.2. Thanks...

RB1100 has Voltage/Temperature Sensor, does the RB1200?

Hi, I've got an RB1100 out in the field that reports a voltage and a temperature. I checked the User Guide from routerboard.com and theres no mention of either voltage or temperature. Is this standard or am I lucky? However for the RB1200 routerboard.com explicitly mentions theres no voltage sensor....

Load balancing a fixed and variable connection

Hi, I've got two paths out to a remote location, a 6mbit symmetrical link, and a wireless link that varys in speed. Usually we can get 13mbit out of the wireless link, but today its only doing 6mbit. Is there a way that I can specify that the first 6mbit of traffic goes through the wired connection ...

Re: RB1100ah bypass ports - POE as backup power

I had one of these on my desk for about 5 minutes (loud!)

Bypass works as such, if switched to on and router is on, ports act normally, if you then unplug the router, the two ports are physically connected.

I dont think POE works that way, most people will use one power source or anther.

Why are you moving to PPPoE. Just for the authentication, or is there other reasons? I work for a company that has some ADSL, and for the connection to the ADSL network, we've got an ethernet port, and different address blocks on different vlans with static and static-dhcp. I'm curious about PPPoE.

Ah. Thanks, I didn't notice that bit.

I'll have to read up on the peculiarities of IPv6. Looks like OSPFv3 doesn't like router->router and router->clients routes on the same interface. It doesn't advertise the router->client routes

You should give more details like wheres the cache running? Are you using simple queue or anything fancier?

If you're running web traffic through a caching proxy, how are you limiting it under the persons regular queue in the first place?

It's not stupid but it is misplaced. This thread is currently in the "RouterOS BETA" forum.
Give this a read: http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:All_about_licenses

The manual states that licenses are bound to the hard drive that RouterOS is installed to.
