There isn't a way to answer this because it depends on many things. First the differance between sx2 and sxt 2 lite is that the transmit side of the unit is 500mw vs 1000mw. scurtis, While I just read the Mikrotik definition of OSPF and I have been aware of the concept but have not had any practle experance with it. I'm use to bridging, routing, and setting up radius, ppoe clients. Could you give an example of how to setup such a connection? Lets say you have four statio...

Thank you for your comments. As for using 802.11b. I am having pretty good success with my two repeater sites. I have 20-25 connections on a single site using a 18db omni with 3 degree downtilt over the town. I even have several links shooting through trees but they are fairly close to the antani. B...

Antani, Power and freqency

Is it correct to say that a higher db omni will have a longer range than a lower db omni. However the higher the db the flater the cone will be. And thus using a lower db omni will be shorter range but have better non-line of sight chacteristics? Is it correct to say that a sr5 card using 802.11a at...

5ghz and backbone

My plan is to create a backbone on 5ghz and then 2.4ghz to the clients. Not all of the tower locations can see the primary 5ghz access point but they can see the other 5ghz relays. Is there away to set them up without having to install separate 5ghz ap links at each relay to the new site? Would this...

802.11A link Question

Is 802.11a so sensitive that it will not travel through a single pain of glass? I have a routerboard on our roof with 802.11a card for backbone, 802.11b card for hotspot/ppoe. On the mountain I have the same. I want to add another repeater the same as above, and in attempting to set the unit up I ha...

I looked into this early when we were going to setup our wireless hot spot service and the research that I did told me it's best not to do anything on AM towers. Between the special equipment you have to use, interferance issues.. and the fact the tower has to be shut down in order to make changes t...

RB500 & Atheros 802.11a

I have had this RB500 for about two months now and I have still not been able to get this unit into production. The unit has a pair of Athlos A/B/G cards at 65mw power. When the cards are set for 802.11b they work great and have good range both indoor and on external antani. However, one of these ca...
