Simple solution, automatic disable of those options when a broadcom card is used.

Re: No VirtualAP in Station/Client mode=LAME

no you are wrong, WDS is clearly defined as a mode in ddwrt, repeater mode has nothing to do with WDS

Re: No VirtualAP in Station/Client mode=LAME

I understand your concern for bandwidth in this mode, I have not done any throughput testing, but its as in 11mb/B mode as an auxillery access point, dDDWRT Documentation shows that "Bandwidth is halved for wireless clients" when in repeater mode, also this is not done with madwifi, using ...

Re: Why doesnt RouterOS support Broadcom Wireless?

I fail to see the logic in your response to my question. There is just as much MiniPCI wireless devices out there that are broadcom as there are atheros. I just happen to have a pile of Broadcom cards here I could be using in those empty pci slots, the hardware is there, but I cannot use them becaus...

Re: No VirtualAP in Station/Client mode=LAME

thats funny, seems to work just fine for every other platform.

OpenWRT, Tomatoe, DDWRT, Pfsense, MadWifi, HostAP

Should I go on?

I have a cheap linksys router right here thats a client connected to a wep encrypted network and has a Vlan that is broadcasting as an AP, no problem at all.

Re: Why doesnt RouterOS support Broadcom Wireless?

And why is that not possible to do? Every other linux platform seems to have no issue with master mode on broadcom. Why not mikrotik?

No VirtualAP in Station/Client mode=LAME

No VirtualAP in Station/Client mode=LAME Need I say more? Well allow me to elaborate, if I have a mikrotik as a station connection to a retail ap, guess what, not virtual ap for me, boohoodily hoo, thanks mikrotik. What, did you think my netgear was going to allow WDS?? Or perhaps you think I will h...

Why doesnt RouterOS support Broadcom Wireless?

Ok I know Atheros is superior, allright.

But many broadcom chipsets also support the same modes as atheros, master, managed, and monitor.

So why not guys? Is it because Mikrotik doesnt sell broadcom based wireless cards?

DNS security / Firewall Rule Question

Ok, I have a dns server running on my core router that is DMZ, but I do not want the public to be able to see port 53 open. Also, I would like to hide port 8291 from the world as well.

How would I setup firewall rules for this?

Is someone doing a man in the middle attack on me?

Is someone doing a man in the middle attack on me? I just looked in my firewall connections and I see a lot of traffic going to 192.168.1.44, I think someones doing a MITM attack one me, what do you think?? btw 192.168.1.x is upstream of me, it is the AP that is serving my network above my client. Re: RB112 and RB133 100% CPU Usage

I confirm that Router OS 4.3 works fine in RB133c, used as AP (I still have some of the preproduction samples, with L4 on them). Used with advanced-tools, dhcp, hotspot, routerboard, security, system and wireless packages. Firmware 2.14. Cpu usage 5%-15%, minimal load on the ap at the testing momen...

3.30 runs HORRIBLE on an RB112, they should offer a download of 2.97 on the site for those who were foolish enough to install it.

Multiple SSID and Vlans Question

Ok so everyone knows you can run Multiple SSID with Vlans, now what I want to know, is if thats the case, then why cant you run Multiple Clients off a single interface using vlans? Any of you experts know the bottom line on this one?

Re: Dual wan Mikrotik check gateway ping

they need to just integrate a drop down menu in winbox, this is a simple feature that most other platforms/distros support through GUI. And would be a wonderfully easy feature to use, as opposed to the complicated solution mentioned above.

I just googled the switch and no vlan support,. FS-108 "VLAN Support - No" and no I am not used to using Vlans, :( But this works, I have no visible problems networkiing and I can manually switch traffic between gateways by simply manipulating the routes. Just would be nice to have load ba...

oh I figured out why it wouldnt let me have more than one, I needed to change the Vlan ID number. ok so I have 3 vlans now I assigned each static ip to its own vlan2 and vlan3, removed and readded the routes, I assigned the dhcpserver to vlan1 no internet from either gateway :( , does this need some...

Re: Two Static Ips and DHCP server on single interface - DUA

Um, yeah, two problems

1. It wont allow more than one Vlan on the interface

2. when I switch the dhcpserver to this single Vlan, assign the address to it, and dhcpserver to it, it ceases to route the internet.

Re: Two Static Ips and DHCP server on single interface - DUA

Ok well what if I ran the dhcp server on its own interface, could it still be done reasonably?

Or should I just drop this notion and shift to putting each static address and the dhcpserver all on Vlans?

Re: how to block sites need help urgent

you could simply add static dns entries for the sites you want to block and enter 0.0.0.0 as the dst ip, that would pretty effectively block any machine, thats using your Routerboards DNS server, access to those sites. Of course if you have a clever masturbating co-worker whos looking at porno, he c...
