My setup is as follows: Mikrotik1, DMZ from the cable router. 192.168.88.0/24 network there Mikrotik2, behind NAT at work/housing campus, also 192.168.88.0/24 What would be the best way to get the machine from the Mikrotik1 to show up as local behind the Mikrotik2 network? No, problem is when you open management ports for the router to the internet. Like Winbox/SSH/Telnet/web to Router itself. Open port trough the Router should be no problem. But you need to make sure that the service you open are secure. Like using good password, follow best practice etc. ok, thank ...

it is cable modem on 0.1 lan and it gives mikrotik 0.2 address, then mikrotik has its own 88.1-100 ip range. i will not connect anything to the technicolor cable modem except mikrotik, and everything on the network will be in 88.1 lan
technicolor modem does not have bridge mode i think...

so on this machine I am planning to run plex server, torrent, bitcoin node, and lightning wallet, that is about 5-6 more ports open towards the internet. would that compromise the router?

Hi, can I run RouterOS as an exposed host? If I configure the firewall properly, what are the chances someone can hack it? I have a cable modem that has wan, but I was wondering if I can block everything except the mikrotik IP, and leave it on DMZ? Also, this way I can vpn to it, as it does not work...

there is a wireless network that authenticates the devices by opening a web page with username and password. can
a mikrotik device authenticate somehow, or do i need some other means?

as it stands, its enabled, which can help attacker do DDoS from mikrotik IP.

how do i disable the recursive queries ability so that external attackers cant use it?

does disabling ALLOW REMOTE REQUESTS prevent recursive querries?

hi, thanks for the reply

i can ping the IP, from the outside, but i get no reply.

also the counter on NAT rule is increasing every time i try to access that IP address

should i try to disable all the firewall rules one by one then try?

thanks guys :) i got it to work (mostly) but i thing the transfer speeds are like 5-6 mb/s, which isnt too good

also, my media player can see the share, but cant connect to it. pc connects normally, but only when guest is allowed
