Re: v6.34.3 [current] is released!

I've run into a pretty weird issue with the 6.34.x releases on a CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+ and a CRS125-24G-1S-2HnD. It first happened when I upgraded the CRS from 6.34 to 6.34.2, and then again when upgrading the CCR from 6.34.2 to 6.34.3. When this first happened to the CRS I went to System -> Packages an...

Re: Default Mikrotik Firewall rules

Default firewall rules are a part of the factory default config for most RouterOS devices that ship configured as NAT routers. The firewall rules and other defaults are described in this wiki article . You can get the rules back by upgrading to at least 5.xx (maybe earlier too?) and factory resettin...

Re: VLAN Over Mikrotik

It's a little hard to help you without seeing your config and knowing which RouterBoard devices you are working on. In general, VLANs on routed interfaces are added as virtual interfaces under Interfaces -> VLAN in the web interface. The wiki page on VLANs has some good examples.

Re: Small PoE switch to power multiple different devices ?

As dreamind stated, Ubiquiti's TOUGHSwitch PoE PRO (TS-8-PRO) is great for scenarios where you need both passive 24V PoE and 802.3af. We have several TS-8-PRO unites in use with a huge mix of PoE devices from MikroTik, Ubiquiti, HP, Cisco and Vivotek. Never had a single problem. If you need to rackm...

Re: rb2011uas-2hnd-in crashed with ROS 6.6 and FW 3.10

I experienced reboots every few minutes after upgrading my RB2011UAS-2HnD to RouterOS v6.5 and firmware v3.10. Since I mainly use the device for testing I didn't bother to look into it anymore and just left it off for a few weeks. Once RouterOS v6.6 was released I powered up the RB2011UAS-2HnD again...

Re: Rb2011 V6.2 bug

Why is everybody telling to upgrade Win7? This makes me mad! When using the webinterface instead of winbox and navigate to quick setup the whole connection is lost. So don't tell there is a problem with Win7, please. So what is the solution for this? Thanks! Quick set is bugged in 6.1/6.2. MikroTik...

Re: Ping within LAN

That seems a bit high, but increased ping times can be caused by a lot of different things. Are you sure there is no congestion in your network and that the RouterBoard is not under heavy load? Also, did you have similar ping times on 6.1? 6.2 is still pre-release as far as I know, so it probably sh...

Re: Fortigate SSL-VPN connection

Any updates on this? I haven't made any progress on the SSL VPN bit, but I can confirm that IPSec between a FortiGate and a RouterBoard works just fine. I have successfully set up a gateway-to-gateway IPSec VPN connection between our FortiGate at work and my RouterBoard at home. Let me know if you'd...

Re: Is the following VLAN / WIFI setup possible?

That's fantastic. I'll try to implement that in the next day or so. Can you confirm which interface you assign ip addresses and DHCP pools to? Is it the vlan interface? Yes, I think the VLAN interfaces make most sense in this case. You could really use any interface that has been added to the bridg...

Re: Is the following VLAN / WIFI setup possible?

Alright, here's my example setup: * The example will use ether2-ether5 on a RouterBoard 493G * ether5 will be the trunk port, connected to a VLAN-aware switch * ether2 and ether3 will be access ports for VLAN10, ether4 will be the single access port for VLAN12 * The RouterBoard has one WLAN card, na...

Re: Is the following VLAN / WIFI setup possible?

This is doable, yes. If you need wire-speed between the ports on each VLAN you'll have to use the 493G's switch chip, which is a little bit more work to set up. Otherwise you can just set up regular VLANs on the trunk port and bridge the access ports and VAPs with the appropriate VLANs. Regular VLAN...

Re: RB2011-UAS RouterBrick

There was a bug that left some RouterBoard models with no default config after upgrading to ROS v6. My RB493G didn't get a default IP at least, so I had to log in via the serial connection to get everything up and running again. That might be what has happened to you. I think most modern Linux distr...

Re: Fortigate SSL-VPN connection

I'm not sure if that's possible. As far as I know, the SSL VPN service on FortiGate devices is pretty much SSTP, but it's a proprietary version that is only compatible with FortiNet's official client software and browser plugin. At least I've never seen support for third-party clients mentioned anyw...

Re: RB2011 - switch, bridge, virtual AP

I've been playing around a bit with the switch chips on my RB493G, so I might be able to give you some hints. Do note that I am fairly new to MikroTik gear in general, so I might not have understood everything properly yet. If anyone who is more knowledgeable comes around, please do correct me if an...
