I used Winbox to transfer the files. It's really weird becase the same files I transfered worked great on another box I upgraded. Let me ask a dumb question. I've got a 2.9.42 install disk. If I export the key couldn't I just reformat the drive and then import the old key? This thing has been acting...
I've got MT units running. I just got the newest version 2.9.42 for the one I just bought and wanted to upgrade anotherone that I bought last November that is running 2.9.27. I transfered the files to it and can see them but they are not updating when I reboot the computer. What am I doing wrong? I'...
I need a little help redirecting in dst-nat. Let's say the IP of my machine is 68.70.0.2 If you http to that you get the MT weblog in. I am not running a hotspot. Instead of it going to a login screen I want to redirect it to 10.18.0.135 which is an in house web server. I know how to do dst-nat but ...
I'm having problems adding a new NIC to my router. It's a Linksys 1 GB newtork adapter. It shows up under resources but not under interfaces. I have a driver disk that came with the card but don't have a clue as to how add it. When I look in the driver section there is not one for the Linksys card. ...
I've got a strange problem. From one computer I can log on with no problem. With another computer I get:
could not get roteros.dll: no reply!
error on a new MT box. Both are computers are running the same version on WinBox. I can telnet to it just fine.
Any Ideas?
Hey thanks,
I got it now. It was a bad jump in a service chain or should I say a forgotten jump. I do have a follow up question on the service ports. How do you add a service ports? We use DameWare and it's host port is 6129 with callback port of 6132. I can't get it to complet the socket.
Here is some more info. When running torch I see Rx Rate but no Tx Rate. This makes me think there is a problem in the return path possibly because of my local network being masqueraded??
Are you using to ethernet cards? If so you might try masquerading both networks. I'm not an expert!!!! I'm doing something like that. My ISP comes in on ether 1 and my local net is on ether 2. I masqueraded both and it worked. Try it and if it doesn't work you can undo it. Perhaps someone with more ...
Never mind. I'll post what I did in case it can help someone else. I used different ports on links to tell the MT where to send it Example Wireless router link would = the IP address of the hotspot but on port 81 I used a dst nat for authorized traffic to go to the local IP and port of the device. S...
Whats the best way to redirect a link and not have it go lookin outside of your own LAN. In other words you enter the IP of the server from any place in the world and it gives you the logon screen. This works. Once you are logged on and the status page comes up I want to have links on it to non real...
Ether 1 config for Hotspot and access from ISP This part is working fine. Ether 2 config for house LAN 10.41.16.1 DHCP running and working. I can't figure out how to pass traffic from one card to the other. All of the computers on the house LAN are running web servers. These are remote monitors for ...
If you are talking about clients accessing a hotspot then you could add a Mangle rull something like chain=prerouting src. address list NOT =goodlist Action =add src to address list = kill TTL 00:00:03 Under Filter rules add input src address list = kill action drop You would add the IP addresses to...
I never do things the normal way so as always I need help. NIC one goes to the ISP and is the hotspot address all is well. I can hit it just fine from any computer. NIC two goes to the local house net. I want to use the hotspot to authinticate outside users to access other computers on my net on NIC...
There are several ways you can do this depending on how you set your system up. The fastest way is if your running web proxy. Deny access to these sites by URL. The draw back is this is a complete block and will allow no one to them unless you add their IP to the access list. 2nd way is to build a l...
That's what I thought but I got a warning message in the log that said it was 96% full so I cleared it. Should I just let it run and do it's own thing?
I'm running two MT's one with 2.9.26 and one with 2.9.27 Last week the one running 2.9.27 forgot it's IP Bindings. I changed them from all servers to the exact name and they came back up. The first computer running 2.9.26 is a backup and it's still running fine. I'm new so I thought it was just some...
This may not be the right place to ask but does anyone have a list of sites like napster and kazza that present risk to networks that should be blocked? My main concern is download sites and sites that are known security risks.
These IP's are in an address list that came from a prerouter firewall rule. Basically if its tcp and port 80 it looks a a lists called sites. If it's not on the list then it addes it with a TTL of 24hrs. SO... i'm wanting to resolve the IP's the clients were searching to. This is in a TV station and...
I have my router keeping a list of IP's of the websites that are visited. Is there a way to do a script that will resolve the names once a day for me and put the names in the log as an info or so I can print the names out?
Thanks
OK, This is dumb but I'm new, I can't get the Log Downloader program to connect to my hotspot server. There is only one IP on my system which is the hotspot server. Now here's the odd part. I've got another MT running without a hotspot and can get the logs just fine. Aside from being new and dumb wh...
I'm new so don't throw stones. I need to know if you use scripts to redirect to a URL. This is my situation. I have a list of IP's NOT currently in use by DHCP. If someone plugs another computer, say a home computer, into our LAN and gets an IP from DHCP I want them redirected to a HTML pages that t...
I'm setting up another MT system at a remote location. What is the best way to get the six computers that are at the remote site to be able to talk to all of the computers at my base site? I have two static IP's from a local ISP. One at the base site and one at the remote site. Should I use PPPoE or...
This is a weird way of doing it but it works. I made a list of the IP's of the computers I wanted to limit called computers. I made another list called white_list of good sites. I used a prerouter rule in mangle to check the computers IP and if the url was not on the white list then I had it add the...
Yes you are correct, however, what I was "thinking" about was more in the lines of a firewall rule but being new at this I can't seem to work it out. What I was trying to do was enter the search ip of the computer in the input chain. If it mached then jump to a chain called checksites. I c...
What / where is the best way to block one computer from going to all except let's say five url's on the web.
For example
I want 10.4.0.26 to be able to only go to http://www.1.com http://www.2.com http://www.3.com http://www.4.com
etc..... and there related sub sites
All else gets blocked
My problem was that I did not redirect port 443 in NAT to port 64875
I did this and it works great now. Sorry to keep asking dumb questions and then answering them but I'm learning.
OK, I am new at all of this but it looks like I need a certificate before this is going to work.. So first is there a windows based program that I can make one with. Second is there a version of FreeBSD that will work with windows? I guess third does it sound like this is what's wrong with my https ...
The router is working great and I couldn't love it more but for some reason I can't get HTTPS to work right. I've got port 443 open and I it's active in services is there something else I missing? (Besides a brain) Let me add that it only seems to be a problem when a site opens another URL that is h...
I have a remote client IP of 10.1.48.50 and added it to the walled garden and also made and IP Binding for it. All of my clients see it just fine but their mapped drive (\\10.1.48.50\folder) does not work. What have I done wrong or need to do (Besides learn more)
Thanks,
Randy
I'm new! My router is doing fine except for allowing clients to access real world FTP sites. It gives me a timeout error. I added this add chain=services protocol=tcp dst-port=20-21 action=accept comment=";;; allow ftp" I checked services on IP and Hotspot both are on. What am I missing? :...
I'm not the brightest bulb am I? I figured that out late last night and all is well. I'm new to the router side of computers but it only took me three days to get my work place running on it which has 3 LANS 1 WAN 2 wireless access points 130 computers and 23 servers. This is a great program. Wish t...
I've setup a Hotspot server and it works great, however, I want everyone on our network to be able to use their microsoft outlook without having to be logged on. I'm new at this but shouldn't I be able to add a rule to do this?
thanks,
