Hotspot CPE with external radius server issue

Hello group, It has been a *long* time since I have posted, but I'm still alive. :-) I am trying to implement hotspot on the ethernet of customer cpe's, with userman running on a central cloudcore. Here is my config in the client: # # /interface wireless security-profiles set [ find default=yes ] su...

Efficient IPv6 Subnetting

Hello everyone! I do not post very often, but I have been in the WISP biz for many years, attended numerous MUM events, and using ROS since 2002. My company just received our first IPv6 assignment, a /48 block, and it blows my mind with how many actual addresses are in this block. We could have done...

Re: 433AH OSPF Issue? V6.X

I have some that work, and some that do not. The ones that do not work, also show OSPFV3 in the routing menu, in addition to OSPF. I have been using ROS since v2, this one has me stumped. Edit: Now that I have been looking for it, it seems that all boards that have the OSPFV3 option in the Winbox ro...

433AH OSPF Issue? V6.X

I have a rather large network with a number of mixed hardware boards (some that are about due for replacement). I am having an issue in getting OSPF to handshake between 433AH boards and newer boards like our RB912 AP's. I have tried upgrading and downgrading throughout the V6.x releases, and still ...

Analyze My Firewall

Looking for input on my firewall, its a little cpu hungry, and I may have missed something? The rules I have for limiting TCP SYN and # of IP connections are disabled, they seem to be choking my customers down online. I have them marked with ** /ip firewall filter add chain=Sanity_Check_LAN comment=...

Re: RouterOS v6 release candidate 1

I tested it on a 750 and a 532, seems to be a lot less cpu intensive. Haven't tried the backup yet to see the issue listed above. Hope we can use this on the box full of 133's we have! thank Normis, tell the guys to keep up the good work!! See you in Louisiana if I can get away.

Re: RouterOS USB storage device support

Actually, sound support would be very useful, and easy to implement. This would open up a whole new revenue stream for Mikrotik, streaming audio routers along the lines of Barix and Tieline. I work in broadcasting as well as IT, and we use these routers all the time. You have my vote! Tommy Johnson ...

Your dhcp-server is probably set to add ARP for leases. We have had to sometimes set static ARP entries with Tranzeo gear.

I had a great time too, even though I had to bail friday afternoon and get back to work. It was good seeing my Latvian friends again too, even if we did not get to go to shopping at Fry's this time. Hey Uldis, you should have come too, I wanted to see that Itronix laptop working with RouterOS! I hav...

Multiboard NStream2?

I have 4 routerboards, 4 SR5 cards, and 4 dish antennas. Rather than putting two cards on one routerboard for NStream2 (taxing the CPU), can I do this full duplex setup?

I have had to lock out one of my customers because Ares gets right through the P2P drop rule, and throttling it does not work either. I tried to limit tcp-syn connects on this customer too, but it kept right on going. I hope the team in Latvia can get this fixed, older Ares used the warez protocol b...

I put ethereal on a windows box and this data appears to be STP info from the switch. I have tried enabling and disabling STP on the MT bridge, but it still shows up in the logs as unknown data. Any ideas?

I saw the same thing with 2.8.15 and 2.8.17, but I found that if you go into the pppoe connection and select dial on demand and apply it, then turn it back off the pppoe will start running again.

Nevermind gang, I kept at it and *finally* got it working right. P2P is now completely gone from my network, even better than what NBAR was able to kill in the router. Ok, I think I have made progress. I have the two interfaces bridged, and I put a rule to drop P2P as list on the Microtik docs. P2P between server and switch

I am trying to setup v2.8 on a P3 box to control P2P traffic on my network. I have 2 NIC's in the box each setup with their own IP addy. Whenever I enable the P2P deny all-P2P using winbox, I lose the remote connection to the box and have to reset it and start over. If I try to bridge the 2 NIC's, s...

P2P and Microtik

Will the P2P shaping in the latest Microtik handle layers 1-7? What I am trying to find out is will MicrotikOS control the P2P apps like Overnet that hops across every port including port 80. We have a couple of customers who discovered how to get around the blocks we have on the usual ports, and on...
