Cannot launch 3g connection: usb2:0: setting PIN failed

Hi, I’m using 4.16 and Dell 5530 modem.

/system resource usb print

Why cant I connect adn get

0:09:11 async,error,critical usb2:0: setting PIN failed

instead?

Regards!

I do have the following output:

echo: async,ppp,info Dell: initializing modem...
echo: async,debug usb3:0: sent ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
echo: async,debug usb3:0: rcvd OK

echo: async,debug usb3:0: rcvd OK

echo: async,debug usb3:0: sent AT+CPIN=1234
echo: async,debug usb3:0: rcvd ERROR
echo: async, error, critical usb3:0: setting PIN failed

This sucks, as the pin is right and it just works with this exactly modem.

Funny thing is that I’ve connected once (I got proper IP address somehow), but I cannot repeat this.

With what shall I continue now?

I just didn’t belive that entering PIN with standard command doesn’t work on this exactly model. So I’ve tried minicom and all seems fine:

So it is probably another bug here.

I suppose you have to use modem-init to handle pin,

needs special modem-init (to handle PIN use at+cpin=XXXX)

I got workaround! Apparently, this exactly modem accepts at+cpin in double quotes on this exactly platform (Mikrotik/RouterOS), so I’ve tested this weird way (notice: pin="“1234"”):

/interface ppp-client print
Flags: X - disabled, R - running
 0 name="Dell5530" max-mtu=1500 max-mru=1500 mrru=disabled port=usb2 data-channel=0 info-channel=0 apn="internet" pin=""1234"" user="internet"
      password="internet" profile=default phone="*99#" dial-command="ATDT" modem-init="ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0" null-modem=no
      dial-on-demand=no add-default-route=yes use-peer-dns=yes keepalive-timeout=10 allow=pap,chap,mschap1,mschap2

echo: async,debug usb2:0: sent ATH
echo: async,debug usb2:0: rcvd OK
echo: async,ppp,info Dell5530: initializing modem...
echo: async,debug usb2:0: sent ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
echo: async,debug usb2:0: rcvd OK
echo: async,debug usb2:0: sent AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","internet"
echo: async,debug usb2:0: rcvd OK
echo: async,ppp,info Dell5530: dialing out...
echo: async,debug usb2:0: sent AT+CPIN?
echo: async,debug usb2:0: rcvd
echo: async,debug usb2:0: rcvd +CPIN: READY
echo: async,debug usb2:0: sent ATDT*99#

Anyway, it still don’t want to connect for some reasons:

Any suggestions? maybe I was only told it really works with RouterOS?
