CCR1072 Availability

Hi Forum,

Hopefully looking for a staffer to answer this one, but with the release of CRS226-24G-2S+RM, very keen to get these + the CCR1072-12S+ (which I believe is the reported format).

CCR1072 at the core with 10gbit uplinks to switching, all mikrotik, would be absolutely sweet.

I’m also keen to know if CRS ranges with only SFP/+ ports are expected to be released? Or is it not possible to get the SFP ports into switch chips?

I have a big fitout for a new ISP coming soon and I’d like to make it Mikrotik throughout but need all these devices available to do it!

Thanks

72-CORE powerful mikrotik Router will be released in Quarter 3 of this year…

The model is CCR1072-1G-8S+
It will have the following:

  • 72 cores at 1.2 GHz.
  • 16GB ECC DRAM,
  • 8x 10Gb SFP+ ports,
  • 1x 1Gb RJ45 port,
  • Up to 80Gbit/s throughput,
  • dual power supplies,
  • Smartcard,
  • color touchscreen LCD,
  • RouterOS L6

Whatta a good idea if the 72-core processor will be used in smartphone too…

8x 10Gb SFP+ ports !!! Wow…

Any estimated release date?

hopefully this year

Normis,

Regarding the dual power supplies, will there be DC options? Or only AC?

I’m waiting to purchase a large quantity of CCR1072-1G-8S+ .. any chance we’ll see them before year end?

I guess not

Any ETA yet?

Any update?

The ones displayed at MUM Prague were “production” ones. whereas the black one previously was a prototype.
as far as i remember, Janis said they needed to change something in the hw, so they need to re-run, and after this they can announce the final price. not even the distributors have any insight on the price, nor on the ETA.

You can’t be serius! A product this potent MUST! have dual power inputs. How can’t you locate this beasts in redundant A+B powers racks otherwise?

Is this something you are considering?

sodMetaldream, it does have dual power supplies. They are removable too.

i think without rOS v7 will be no CCR1072, the multicore limitations of rOS v6 will be a problem on 10 gigabit interfaces

While I agree v7 will be a great improvement, 1072 can exist without it. Although, they might both end up landing around the same time anyway.

Unless there are hardware bugs, I think it would be worth to release the 1072.

We could already place it in future-proof installations. For example, now I am delaying several tasks waiting for the 1072.
It could be possible to install it anyway keeping in mind that it may not reach full performances until v7 will be available.

sniff sniff I need 4 please soon! Really hard to upgrade to a 10Gbps network without these

Any word on this??

We need to buy some ASAP. Otherwise will have to buy Crisco… :frowning:

Hi,

I would also say it would be ok for us if the 1072 was released with ROS 6 and have performance limitations. We are delaying builds where we would like to place 1072s to make it futureproof.

When I asked Janis about CCR1072 availability at the AU MUM, he reckoned it was 2-3 months away at most. That puts us in the July-August range if he turns out to be correct.

Apparently Mikrotik had to redesign the SFP+ interfaces because they found that older modules would not function properly in them (they apparently were originally designed to some newer standard that was a bit over-ambitious?).

Anyways, I’m just going off what I recall..

In other words, it’s not a ROS 6.x vs ROS 7.x thing. They will definitely release the CCR1072 on ROS 6.x without any problem.
