Mikrotik, when is hardware IPv6 planned for? Either hardware ‘H’ routes or fast-past routes on v7.
This is such a key piece of an IPv6 next-gen network.
For fast-path my wish list is fast path on existing hardware like powerbox pros and hexs and so on.
but hardware routing on the newer Marvel chips is a must-have.
Hardware IPv6 routing on Marvell switch chips (CRS3xx, CCR2116) is in development.
IPv6 Fasttrack implementation is on our TODO list, but at the moment, I cannot tell when it will happen.
Unfortunately, L3HW IPv6 implementation has been delayed due to additional work on RouterOS v7.1 and v7.2 stabilization. Currently, the development is resumed and moving towards finalization. No ETA yet, though.
Stabilization is more important than hardware IPv6. I hope to see hardware IPv6 at some point too, but I am glad about this set of priorities.
i understand that work on ROS v7 takes priority right now, which is completely reasonable, but even so i’d like to add a vote for hardware IPv6 offloading. i’m considering using some of the L3HW-capable CRSs to upgrade our office network from 1G to 10GE, but all of our internal inter-VLAN traffic (and about 40% of our Internet traffic) is IPv6, so L3HW that only works with IPv4 is basically useless for us.
could i at least ask if, when IPv6 L3HW is added, will it work with the current hardware, e.g. CRS309 or CRS312?
