Huawei usb 3g modems (used by vodafone)

As I have read, MikrotikOS support various cards made by Huawei such as E620 and E630

Presently Vodafone, one of the largest European Providers uses the E220 usb modem

Is there any intention or any news regarding support of 3g usb modems ?

Look into this list
http://www.mikrotik.com/testdocs/ros/2.9/guide/driverlist_content.php#.15
It is not full, there are devices that isn’t listed here.
If the device isn’t recognized then plug it in, make the support output file and send to support@mikrotik.com

in v3 we have also added these:

Sierra Wireless AirCard 597E
AirPrime/Sierra PC 5220
Sierra Wireless MC5720
Sierra Wireless MC5725
Sierra Wireless EM5625
Sierra Wireless AirCard 595

Sierra Wireless MC8755

So there is hope for the E220 ! :slight_smile:

Thanks both the prompt replies, I hope I will see the modem in an coming release soon

If you will get one, attach it to a RouterOS router and make a supout.rif file - we will add this to the list. This would be very welcome, so please contact support if you have this modem.

What’s new in 3.0rc8:
*)…
*)…
*) added support for Huawei E220 USB modem;

That was fast, very fast !!!

Thanks guys :smiley:

did anyone get the Huawai USB E220 running ?
my rb230 does not see it anymore
with RC7 it was shown unter resources/USB
now its gone…

make the support output file and send it to support@mikrotik.com
have you tried to unplog it and reboot it?

is “Sierra Wireless AirCard 875” supported in OS 2.9.27?

if it’s not.what version will support it? thanks

all these cards are supported in RouterOS v3. If something is not supported, we can take your supout.rif file and make support.

again,
ok i installed OS 2.9.27 on my pc. i inserted the 3g card. now how can i see the pci card and how can i know if the system identify this card. thanks

attached is support file

2.9.27 won’t work. you have to use RouterOS v3 because only this version has drivers for it.

hi

i also tried it with rc14 but do not get a connect.
thats all i get - then it starts again trying to dial in …

echo: async,debug umts: sent ATH
echo: async,debug umts: rcvd OK
echo: async,ppp,info UMTS-01: initializing modem…
echo: async,debug umts: sent at+cgdcont=1,“IP”,“myapn.A1.net
echo: async,debug umts: rcvd OK
echo: async,ppp,info UMTS-01: dialing out…
echo: async,debug umts: sent atd*99#

should work, probably a minor configuration mistake. did you read this?
http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Huawei_EVDO

sure i did !!
but doing all this on my notebook by hand in hyperterinal it works - after dialing and sendig the atd*99# there comes a connect answer
not with Ros
also tried with 2.9.50 - same problem

can you post your ppp client config?

here it is
add add-default-route=yes allow=pap,chap comment=“” dial-command=“atd”
dial-on-demand=no disabled=no max-mru=1500 max-mtu=1000
modem-init=“at+cgdcont=1,"IP","steinmann.A1.net"” mrru=disabled
name=“UMTS-01” null-modem=no password=“xxxxx” phone=“*99#” port=umts
profile=umts use-peer-dns=yes user=“otto_a1”

and standard ppp profile

We used:

/interface ppp-client print
 0 X  name="ppp-out1" max-mtu=1500 max-mru=1500 port=usb1 user=""
      password="" profile=ppp-LMT phone="*99***1#" dial-command="ATDT"
      modem-init="AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","internet.lmt.lv"" null-modem=no
      dial-on-demand=no add-default-route=yes use-peer-dns=yes
      allow=pap,chap,mschap1,mschap2

Did you try to experiment with dial-command, phone nr? You know, sometimes one more asterisk, or one less comma can make the whole difference. We achieved the working config by pure experimentation

this is the modem log from my xp workstation dialing in with the same usb modem …
there you can see the connect after the dial in Senden: ATDT*### never shows the real number it dials *99#
sorry for german - dont have any englisch wks here

for this card “Sierra Wireless AirCard 875”

if it’s not not supported in this version, how i install it’s driver (it has a linux driver in this wb site http://www.sierrawireless.com/faq/ShowFAQ.aspx?ID=601)

ok when i insert the card is there a way to the activity like (/var/log/messages) for example. and how i go from the router command line to the linux command line.

ok let’s say that i’m not lucky at all, and the answers to the later questions are “No” :slight_smile:
do i have to get “buy” MikroTik v3 to have the driver in there.

thanks and i’m sorry if i had too many Q’s
