I’ve been scouring the Google for some time now and cannot find a straight answer on how to get a public IP setup behind a MT.
My current situation is that i have a bridged comcast router->Mikrotik with a Static IP->Sonicwall that requires a static ip.
We do have a block of IP’s availble.
The mikrotik is the edge device and will have DCHP turned off. It will be used for VOIP phones on the same network (phones will have static IP’s on the .88.xx).
Then the Sonicwall will have all pc’s behind it.
We are doing this so the IT company will retain access to their sonicwall.
So basically…how can i give the sonicwall a public IP behind the MT?
Place the WAN address you want for the phones on a bridge or switch that contains a) the port that the ISP is coming in on b) the logical “WAN” port for your voice network and c) the logical “WAN” port for your data network. Only assign the address(es) you want to use on the mikrotik to this switch/bridge. Then on the Sonicwall, whatever port you have plugged into the bridge should have the address(es) not assigned to the routerboard on the port plugged into port (c). Make sense?
