So it appears that MikroTik is no longer investing anything into ROSv6? I think that is a mistake, I understand that 90% of their resources should be invested into v7, however for a lot of us, v7 just isn’t ready, and doesn’t look like it will be for awhile. I purpose that MikroTik should combine the stable and long-term versions of ROS6, so that all we have left is a long-term version of v6. and keep releasing updates, to just fix bugs, no new features, but just fix bug until v7 features is on par with v6. There’s lots of stuff in 6.49.x but don’t have access to due to using the long-term version, and when we tried 6.49 we got weird packet loss. (Others had similar problems) Let’s get ROS v6 fixed, and stabilized. Thanks!
Wish there was a 6.46 bugfix-only branch. I’m still on 6.46.7 on production devices.
Your title is misleading though.
@HamRadio I do agree that MT should post more bugfix on v 6 train. But what does not work for you in v7? Have your tried upgrade?
There are many more bugfix branches released.
For the 6.46 train, you have 6.46.8 Long term
But why are you not on 6.48.6, latest long term in the 6 series?
You are using a 2 year old version!!
The releases after that specific version contain not only bugfixes but new features and other weird changes that I don’t have the guts to put in production yet. And probably never will untill v7 is production ready.
I have 6.48.6 (long-term) on all 4000+ devices on production (except one RB5009 with 7.2.3 that until work or 7.23.5 long-term is out, I never update it).
I have updated yesterday the last device from 6.46.8 to 6.48.6.
And you define that by? Long Term?
Upgrading to 7.x will for sure give you a load of new functionality, not only bugfixes.
I know what v7 brings, I use it in non-critical devices.
long-term version of v6. and keep releasing updates, to just fix bugs, no new features
are there a lot of bugs in v6 that affect your network?
