wAP R 2nD board dead.

Hi…

Today I arrived from work and unfortunatelly my Wap R LTE kit was on the floor (dropped from 2 meters).
So long story short it is dead.

I removed R11E-LTE board to check if it helps but no.

Only LD203 is active, and green ethernet light. Connecting ethernet cable does not work, computer is not detecting any activity (tried all speeds with eth speed negotiation turned off).

Question, is it worth to buy only Wap R and install LTE card inside? I have no way of checking if LTE card is ok.

Inside there was no visible damage… but then Im not sure how many layer PCB this is and how fragile it is.

Under LTE card there is some kind of gray plasticine, but it was somewhat wet (board was not exposed to any rain).

I have had the same symptom with a wAP LTE kit which could only be booted by continuously pressing the heat sink.

If this is the case (unit works when applying pressure on heat sink) you might want to open a support ticket.

You are right, pressing down cpu resulted in boot. :frowning:
So physical damage of cpu connection with board.

Well, the symptoms match only I didn’t drop the device on the floor. Mine was simply DOA and I got a replacement.

It may still be a production fault that’s why I’d recommend opening a support ticket. Unless there’s more (physical) damage.

Unfortunatelly I was told by MT support that they are not repairing devices.
This is odd for me to be honest. I dont mind paying for repair but it seems that I cant do that.

Another thing, there is no “only board” on the market to replace that I’m aware of. If someone have board only working and want to sell… Im open to get one :wink:

I was thinking about some light pressure and a slight heat with the heat gun
