Very specific v6.34rc20 - will not upgrade a bunch of my RB4xx units - about 30+/-

Mon Jan 18, 2016 3:54 am

Hey All,
It's been awhile since I've seen this one but all the old repairs do not seem to overcome the problem.
Here are the screen prints.

Any ideas how to fix this?
Thank you,
Rod

1) uninstall all unnecessary packets - especially wireless (it is discontinued, i suggest to use wireless-cm2 instead)

2) if you get autosupout.rif file - you need to send it to support@mikrotik,com

Hi rodneal,

6.34rc20 was buggy version.

You will have to use Netinstall to install a good version of routeros.

Is there a way to make the changes to the boot selection remotely - some off these units are a couple hundred feet up

o - boot device

1 - Etherboot (timeout 15s), IDE

Thank you,
Rod

Hi! Had the same problem. Disable and/or remove wireless Interface from bridge. Then upgrade.

The error is quite self-explainatory. It says, Wireless NPK does not exist. It means you have a package, that we don't offer. Remove it.

Hi Normis!

The main problem with upgrading
from RC20 is the kernel failure. It does
not matter if you upload the combined
upgrade package as you still get kernel
error on reboot if the wireless interface
is included in a bridge.

Exactly - thank you for restating it for me so correctly - Me thinks we were not communicating with Normis correctly - there needs to be a tool to recover something like this without having to have direct access to equipment - some way of going directly to bios to make the config changes.
Thank you,
Rod

Hey Normis - et al,
We still don't have a solution here.
Any ideas?
Thank you,
Rod
