Mikrotik as syslog server

Sat Mar 26, 2016 12:42 am

Is it possibe to configure MT (ex. RB1100AHx2 with microSD card) as syslog server ?
Idea is, to store logs on remote MT over pptp, from MT on sites.... If there is power down on sites, RB lost all logs, so I like to upload them to remote MT syslog server.

Thank you.

You can write your logs to files as well.
When you want a dedicated syslog server, why not take a Raspberry Pi or similar?

Because I don't like to have server just for this.... I like to use MT board (router) if its possible :-) I don't need server for anything so don't like to have it for this...
Is it possible ?
So I want to upload all logs from site RB to 1100AHx2 so if something "goes wrong" I can see last log from site RB on my 1100AHx2.

Thank you for reply

It is probably possible to do it using Metarouter and an OpenWRT installation.
But of course you can also wait for a feature to be added.

It is several times repeated question here... There is syslog server in dude. It doesn't run on 1100ahx2 unfortunately. So bad luck without tilera, x86 or CHR to host the dude.

The best option would be to use External syslog server which can be highly customized according to your requirements. you can do filtering as well, create separte log files for each server or each topic level. Dude is fine too for basic logging.

Following are few suggestions.
