No it is not possible, unless you use dumb terminal that doesn't understand colors :)

Sorry I don't have a solution for you. I just wondering...WHY?
Unless the user is colour-blinded, I found that the colour coding is very useful. It help me pick out my incorrect syntax in my command-lines.

Just my 2-cents.

Cheers

When outside in the bright sunlight the color text may not have enough contrast to be read easily. Especially green text on white background when using terminal within winbox.

When using command line I normally use telnet or putty (SSH) and get a black background which is a little easier to read.

Yes, that is one reason. Its pretty hard to see the text on a notebook under the sun and ppl are complaining about that. The most annoying also. But, another reason is a particular program that I use to remotely interact with ROS via telnet that get completely messed when reading the escape chars. Guess I need to research another solution or parse these chars to make things up. Thank you anyway. :)

Of course. :) We run a program that we made in Delphi 7 to read the registration table stats and the access list entries via telnet and then the program write all this data on a MySQL database. Been working great on all ROS 2.9 versions, but cant do the job on 3.0rc versions without parsing the ROS console colors.

We didnt any changes yet cuz we are intended to use API on ROS 3.0 in a near future. These are sample raw data we grab from both ROS:

Obs: Look at the system identity on ROS 3.0rc9 (last sample). For some reason I dont know yet, the actual name is "Lancernet_Santa_Rita_APs", but we only see "<_APs] >" reading from the console prompt. Anyway, the problem is a lack of parsing data coming from ROS 3.0rcx devices that we couldnt fix in time. Probably we wont spend more time on this program. Thats why Ive asked to know some way to turn off the console colors. ;)

Hope it help normis, my pleasure.

I don't think it is telnet issue, I believe that you also have to take into account color codes and strip them if you don't need them.

3.0rc8 changelog:

fixed terminal capability detection, now windows telnet client
works better. TERM environment variable is ignored completely now,
it was overriding detected values before;

I think that because there is no negotiation of TERM type it will force colors on incapable terminals.

Was there ever a solution for this? I upgraded my core router to V3.3 when I had a hardware crash, but this has completely hosed my provisioning system which used custom expect scripts to interact with the MT.

3.0rc14:

*) console - added login parameters, passed as part of login name, after '+';
can be used to disable colors (+c) and terminal autodetection (+t), e.g.
"admin+ct";
