Using PPTP connection as GATEWAY

Thu Dec 23, 2010 2:49 pm

Hi Everyone;

I have two MT194 routers connected via a couple of Rocket Links, to connect the networks on both sides I have created a PPTP connection from Router A to Router B, Router A being the PPTP server and Router B the PPTP-Client Interface. When either of these routers reboot I have to manually correct (IP-ROUTES) the gateways of the routes I created on Router A as it shows <unknown> when the PPTP link drops and re-connects..

Has anyone seen this before? :(

Regards;
Adolph.

You can add static entry under /interface pptp-server menu. So each time when client disconnects interface and all related configuration is not gone.

Hi MRZ;

Thanks for the swift reply!, Not exactly sure where I must set it under Interface Tab / PPP - I have setup a PPTP server and secret for Router B and it connects fine when it comes up again.. just the routes on Router A that loses gateway info when I set it to PPTP.. Hope I understood you correctly?...

Thanks!
Adolph.

If you are doing it from winbox then
Open PPP window
press + button and chose "pptp server" from the list.
On newly opened window specify name any you like
and set "user" to username which is used for client to connect.
Press OK and reconnect the client.
