webfig

Sat Mar 19, 2011 7:27 pm

Hi,

I have a question regarding webfig, I like the option of using all the features trough web interface, way to go mikrotik, webif is basicaly a copy of winbox, but I think that mikrotik could done better on looks :), compared to other fancy open source web interfaces.

Is there a special reason for this? hardware limitation? speed? Or fancy polishing this planned for version 6?

thanks..

I have been unable to get webfig to work on my android phone. Continues to ask for username and password. Tried many times, it works from my PC but not the phone. Phone is Samsung Epic running android 2.1 Routerboard is rb750 ros 5.0rc11

Any Ideas?

Jason

**EDIT**
Looks like after a firmware update the problem was fixed.

personally I like the way the winbox and webfig are laid out. nice and simple but easy to use. webfig has really nice and fast loading times

I also like the layout of webfig and winbox, my remark was mainly on the looks (graphical).

have you tried v5rc12? there are more improvements in the looks. but don't expect it to be "fancy", RouterOS is serious stuff :)

i haven't tried v5rc12 webfig but personally I didn't mind v5rc11 and thought that it was very snappy, which is is what matters, i dont want to be waiting on page loads to click a couple of buttons. to me functionality far out ranks looks

Well, if webfig is done as webservice, that would allow us to make web interface (and not just web) anyhow we like it.

yes, when it's done function-wise, we will work on the looks, and on some customization possibilities.

I am a serious fan of command line interfaces instead of graphical frontends but I must say that I like how webfig looks... it is so Open Look, and seems well organized too... :D

An excellent alternative to CLI for people that cannot use winbox.

ROS v5rc11 is still the newest development version on the downloads page.

Why not release rc12 so we don't have to request it and we can all try it? :)

we are giving rc12 to the really dedicated testers who don't put it on their production network. when it's confirmed to be fully operational, we will release it. currently it looks like 99% ready
