RB750UP Switch Chip and Routing

Sun Apr 12, 2015 12:26 am

Hey everybody,

I was wondering if anybody had any luck configuring an RB750 as a layer 3 switch with the on board Atheros switch chip. What I would like to do is have multiple VLAN interfaces that will serve as the default gateways for their respective VLANs, and route that traffic to the network edge.

Has anybody accomplished this with the Switch Chip?

Hello
I have tried to implement similar task on rb850x2.
This is easily implemented using software Bridge, but nothing happened on the Atheros chip.
I could not understand the reason (maybe I did something wrong) :(
If the community is ready to help I am ready to continue the experiments.

AW: RB750UP Switch Chip and Routing

That may be possible to some degree using the rule engine of the switch chip, but it is just a l2 device, no l3 switching possible.

Yes of course :) L3 routing must be done through the "switch 1 cpu"
I tried to do the following scheme - see below
Evening I'll try again and show what happened - I will be grateful if you help to understand what I'm doing wrong :)
