What's the least broken 5.0 version of UM?

Sun Dec 12, 2010 1:30 am

Anything below 5.0 suffers from poor design - not allowing self signup with free access.
And most (or all - not sure) of the 5.0 betas/rc's are just broken.

Between all the betas and rc's, it's confusing.

It would be nice if someone could post a comparison table showing the different ways in which each version is broken.

It's starting to remind me of dd-wrt, where every version has major bugs.

This is the reason I left dd-wrt.

And it likely will be the tipping point that will drive me from MT.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Ubiquiti is going to eat Mikrotik's lunch in Q1 unless they screw up badly with their release of their Unify product line.

All depends on whether they get the management connectivity correct, and if they support self registration correctly.

Ubnt is for different purposes.

Nothing can replace the good old RouterBOARD and even more so for RouterOS.

The least broken User-Manager could be v5.0RC4 or you could try v5.0RC6 when it comes out.

Please when you encounter an issue, don't be screaming like a schoolgirl "whaaa not working". Instead simply state with 2 words what exactly is not working and include a screenshot.

RC4 does seems to work.

5.0 is eleven versions (and counting) without a final release.

I see no advantage to me in providing free support to Mikrotik, just as they see no advantage in supporting me.

All of the community efforts don't seem to have made much of an impact on the product.

Yes, user manager is currently without major fixes, but it will change soon. Sorry about the delay.
