RouterBoard 1100AHx2 Where is User Manager

Thu Mar 22, 2012 2:39 pm

There appears to be no user Manager with the RouterBoard 1100AHx2, there is no mention on the website of 5.8 RouterOS that is installed, I have paid hundreds of pounds for this and I expect better support from MikroTik on what is a flagship product, i would have been better with a couple of 750G and saved money

The user manager package does not come preinstalled. You have to download it and install the package. I provided the link with the user manager package.

5.14 is much lower that the 5.8 RouterOS that is installed, this would constitute a huge downgrade.

You upload the packages to router and then reboot. Is this what you have tried doing?

Yes, but it just hangs and the fans start running at full bore, eventually after 15 mins, I give up waiting and power off, then back on, it powers up but no update has taken place.

Did you unzip the archive first? Sometimes it can take a little bit to upgrade.

Tried and tried, unpacked them, loaded them individually all to no avail, it hung everytime.

In the end I took the unit off line compleatly and fitted a temporary router in place.

Low and behold, the upgrade worked first time.

So why? that is the question.

Very strange. I have done thousands of upgrades and never had that happen.

Rb1100ahx2 has a very limited amount of NAND storage so you may not be able to load all packages at once, especially when doing an upgrade.

Try loading the basic packages for 5.14 first then add UM once the upgrade to 5.14 is complete.

You will also need to install a microSD Class 2 (not C4) chip for UM to use for storage. This requires removal of the rb1100ahx2 case lid.

The upgrade went on OK first time when it was on the bench, just not work when it was running live, in fact i have just discovered it will not re-boot at all when it is a live unit with data passing through it.

Memory storage about 50%, the 2 CPU's are around 6%
