hotspot: bypass authentication for specific user

Fri Jun 18, 2010 2:23 pm

Is there a way to bypass authentication for a specific user?
I prefer a specific user not to be requested a username/password, bypass the initial login screen and grant access automatically when connected to the specific network.

The user can be authenticated from laptop mac address... Can this be achieved somehow?

Thank you

This bypasses the hotspot by mac address.
/ip hotspot ip-binding
add mac-address=xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx type=bypassed

You can also use the ip address to bypass.

I have noticed that with ip binding, It works in the fact that the user does not have to login in.
But now how do I get a user not to have to log in, but still link that users data traffic to a hot spot user account.

For example we have a hotspot, and each user has their account, but to login on your phone is a mission. so i want to link the phones via their mac address to the accoutn but they must not login, it must just automatically login that phone from that mac address. And still accoutn for the data RX and TX ?

How can i do this?

Use MAC authentication via radius.

I have bind the some users through mac address, users can access the net without any authentication. But many a times when a user try to connect it shows the page to enter username/password.
And then i need to disable/enable the user mac in IPBinding to again bypass the user.
plz help.

I've set this up for a client and all their workstations login automatically through Userman, if I remember correctly for this to work you must enable service=login, hotspot on Radius where login is what you need for MAC auth. Hotspot server profile Login By MAC enabled. I think that was it.
