VPLS or EOMPLS between cisco 7206 vxr and Ros 5.0

Tue Apr 12, 2011 12:00 am

Hi,

I'm trying to setup a vpls or eompls between a cisco 7206 and a rb1100 with ros 5.0.
There's already a bgp based vpls between this rb1100 and another router os 5.0 running on a x86 server. Today i started to play with a 7206 vxr and this cisco doesnt support bgp based vpls. So i tried to make a manual vpls between the these two routers. The problem is that we cant run LDP on our network as mikrotik mpls implementation doesnt support equalcost multipath forwarding with mpls and we have a lot of multipath connections on our network.

The current bgp based mpls vpn that is working between ros x ros are working because we set up a TE-Tunnel on each router and the rsvp assigned the label and vpls runs ok!

I managed to make a te tunnel between cisco and mikrotik very easy and fast , but unable to make the vpls / eompls to work.

Anyone with that setup had success with this setup?

RouterOS supports VPLS either as BGP-signalled VPLS or LDP-signalled EoMPLS. So if you can't run either, you're out of luck.

I suggest using GRE instead then.
