OSPF NBMA priorities

Mon Jan 16, 2012 8:22 am

Hi, I have ospf in my network divided into backbone, area1 and area2 - depends on real area ( different cities )
Some links have backups links, but the question is if I want to change to NBMA how to set priorities - for example this situation
on the drawing. What priorities betwen routers A-B , A-C, B-D, etc ? leave all default ?

It's the mystery of the ages.

I just have all mine set at pri 1. Been that way for over a year. Sometimes if a link fails and then recovers, OSPF does not come back up on that link. Have to disable the interface and re enable to get it back. Not too big of a deal as all my links have redundant links

I have a problem with normal ospf with broadcast type of connection and as you wrote - sometimes routers doesn't start to advertise on some routers.
That's why i thing of priorities and NBMA . If router ID is 192.168.240.100 and another one which is further is 192.168.230.150 it has lower ID so it should get routers from 192.168.240.100 - but i'm not sure lately - upgraded mos links to 5.11/5.9 from 4.17 and strange things began from time to time.
for example area2 - routers in a line 192.168.240.95 -cable- 192.168.240.94 --wireless- 192.168.240.93- wireless- clients and routers 192.168.230.xxx -
When reboot 192.168.240.93 - it doesn't advertise routes and cant ping it only via MAC can access remotely - when I disable interface to clients 192.168.230.xxx - and reboot usually it works. WHY ? on 4.17 it wasn't a problem i think - but not sure very rare rebooting this device .
This address are loopback bridge addres and router-id 's
