First eBGP and problems with some routes

Fri Aug 02, 2013 8:55 am

Hi,
I just started using our own AS (public AS of course) and it's working great with most networks (specially to 72.21.92.82), but we've very high packet loss rate to some routes, but to other I've 0% packet loss.

I tested the same IP (72.21.92.82) from a DSL connection of my upstream provider and I've 0% from there...any idea?

Thanks,

1) Do a traceroute and see which hops are within your providers network.
2) Ping the IP of the provider BGP peering router to see if there is any packet loss
3) continue pinging each hop in the traceroute starting with the nearest hops to determine where the packet loss is coming from.

If the packet loss isn't between your router and the peering router but within your carrier's network, then open a ticket with them and provide the traceroute info.
