BGP Broken after Upgrade

Sat Nov 02, 2013 3:38 pm

We just finished an attempted upgrade.

Old box is an x86 running V4.17.
New box is an x86 running V6.5.
The config was copied and corrected for new NIC's

When we first did the swap, everything was working flawlessly. Then after about 1.5 hrs, the connection to the outside world died. After some troubleshooting it seems as though the BGP is no longer getting a connection to the Telco upstream. We had them on the phone and they said they can see communication and I can see their router sending info to us but we never establish a link. I've switched to 2 other ports (across 2 cards of different makes) and the problem persists. I also tried to change port negotiation just in case and nothing seems to work.

We have moved back to the old router for now. It's still running fine.

The thing that gets me is that the new router was working and was heavily tested for at least 30 min after the swap. All cables are the same. The only variable is the new router.

Any thoughts?
