mpls package, do I need it ?

Fri Jan 24, 2014 8:41 pm

Hi all,

I've disabled a few packages that I don't use: wireless, hotspot and ipv6, but I don't know if I can disabled mpls, don't want to break my config.
I use my route for:

1. Routing
2. PCC Load balancing + failover
2. Firewall
3. VPN
4. Proxy
5. DHCP
6. Queues

My question is, can I disable this package ? In winbox, in MPLS there is no rule added (enabled).

If you don't need MPLS/VPLS for anything, then yes, you can remove it.

IMO, it really doesn't hurt anything to leave all the default packages. I used to be a bit of a nazi about removing unused packages, but with 100's of devices, it got to be a little annoying, especially when it was time to actually implement MPLS on my network. I now use the -all packages, adding the ntp package when/where necessary.

Good luck!
