Cloud Router

Wed Dec 09, 2015 11:30 pm

So I am not entirely sure what someone would use a cloud hosted router for. I know there are some reasons, but if anyone can share what they would use it for, that would help me see some of the other possibilities that I might be interested in using myself!

Thanks,
Joe

For running the dude maybe one day. Or as vpn concentrator in hosting centre. Why you haven't looked on the main chr threads what people wrote about it instead?

I have looked through a handful of threads, but most people who want it aren't saying exactly what they are using it for. I understand the potential uses for training and such, but on a server sitting in a datacenter or on an AWS service I'm not entirely sure what it would be used for and I'm just looking for people to share some of their uses here.

Right. I tried it in vmware without any success so far. As x86 is running in vmware fine, I had personally no reason to try it more and again so far. But for running in remote virtual hosting it could be useful. Anyway it's quite new so the time will show us...

When you are hosting somewhere, you can run your main servers as guests and use CHR as a firewall for your colocation without additional costs to add another slot in the server farm.
