RB1000, metarouter, crash with > 512MB ram

Mon Feb 01, 2010 12:56 pm

Hi there,

I have a consistent issue on RB1000 units, where the ram has been upgraded. When I add a metarouter, the router crashes. I get no messages in the console, or anything, it just freezes completely. It works fine with the bundled memory... I have checked several RAM circuits, and I get the issue consistently.

Any ideas?

What RouterOS version you are using?
How big memory you specified for the metarouter and how much RAM you have in the RB1000 plugged in?

I've tried a lot of different versions. I've tried from 3.30 to 4.5.
The router has a 2GB kingston block in (giving it 1.5 GB effectively), and it doesn't matter how much memory I specify for the guest.

So to reproduce - reset the configuration on RB1000, go into the metarouter menu and click on the + for adding a new metarouter, and after pressing ok, the board freezes - no response, even not from the console?

Exactly. This is exactly what happens.
