VMware does not recognize PCI WiFi

Mon Nov 08, 2010 4:22 pm

We know it is a common problem for most virtualizers (VMware, Citrix, etc.) do not recognize the HARDWARE of the PCI, even when the chances of a WiFi USB WiFi work are greater. If anyone has experienced this or has a solution, please post a reply, thanks.

My intention is to use the MikroTik virtualized, but I need to use WiFi interface Workstation VMware or 7 on a desktop computer with OS Windows XP.

Use KVM or XEN on a VMX enabled processor/MB. I havent every used it for a wireless card, but other various PCI cards have always worked great. VMWARE is very lacking in that area.

if virtualization environment allows you to assign host hardware directly to guest, then in theory, you will be able to work with that resource similar to non-virtualized environment. KVM in RouterOS does not allow to do this.
