RB260GS Management VLAN and ARP Ping but no real ping??

Thu Nov 26, 2015 2:24 am

If my network is trunked to pass management VLAN traffic on say VLAN 40, can I just put 40 in the VLAN field on the management page and that's it?

I have an issue, maybe related to SWOS or my Dell switch or my CCR config.

I have access to the unit via IP on that bridge on the CCR.

Then when I put the VLAN ID 40 in the management page, it is no longer accessable.

This is correct.

But I can't get to it via IP from the management network.

I CAN ARP ping it from anywhere in the management network from any of my mikrotik boxes.

But I can't ping it from the same boxes.

What does that mean??

Note: SwOS uses a simple algorithm to ensure TCP/IP communication - it just replies to the same IP and MAC address packet came from. This way there is no need for Default Gateway on the device itself.
